Make Yavatmal District a Model for Freshwater Fisheries – Minister Nitesh Rane

Mumbai, Aug 2025 : Fisheries and Ports Minister Nitesh Rane has directed that a comprehensive plan be prepared to establish Yavatmal district as an ideal model for freshwater fishery production by integrating various schemes of the Fisheries Department.

A meeting regarding the development of fisheries and the creation of basic infrastructure for fish conservation and fishery activities in Yavatmal district was held at the ministry. Minister Rane issued the directions during the discussion. The meeting was attended by former MLA Madan Yerawar, Fisheries Commissioner Kishor Tavadhe, and other concerned officials.

Giving instructions to prepare a blueprint that could later be implemented across the state, Minister Rane said :

“All necessary permissions required for the development of the fisheries sector in Yavatmal must be granted on priority. It should also be ensured that fishermen do not face any obstacles in carrying out their activities.”
