Mamit Independence Day 2025 Celebration – Signature Awareness Campaign Against Substance Abuse Launched
Mamit, Aug 2025: During the celebration of India’s Independence Day 2025 at Mamit on August 15, the Excise & Narcotics Department launched a Signature Awareness Campaign as part of its initiatives against drug abuse. Around 1,000 students and members of the public participated in the campaign by signing their commitment against substance use.
On the occasion of Independence Day 2025, Shri C. Lalsawivunga, Hon’ble Minister, awarded the Governor’s Gold Medal to Constable No. 592 Lalmuanpuia of the Excise & Narcotics Department, Mamit, in recognition of his dedicated service. The Department expressed its appreciation and conveyed best wishes to him.
The major achievements of the Excise & Narcotics Department, Mamit, from January to August 15, 2025, were also highlighted:
- Number of cases registered: 191
- Number of persons arrested: 143
- Heroin seized: 35.070 grams
- Ganja seized: 1323 grams
- Codeine-based cough syrup seized: 50 phials
- Alprazolam seized: 247.560 grams
- Rakzu seized: 1213.375 litres
- Fermented rice seized: 2831.5 tins
- IMFL seized: 105.895 litres
- Beer seized: 115 cans
- Grape wine/juice seized: 36 bottles
