From the Land of Lord Ram, Sports Will Rise – Ayodhya to Shine on the International Stage

Ayodhya, Aug 2025 : The holy city of Lord Ram, Ayodhya, is now moving towards becoming not only a center of spirituality and culture but also a new hub for sports. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state government has taken a major step to strengthen sports infrastructure and promote the development of athletes. In this direction, the construction of the Dr. Bhimrao National Sports Complex is progressing rapidly towards completion. Once ready, it will provide a platform for athletes from Ayodhya to shine not only at the national but also at the international level. Soon, Ayodhya will script a new chapter in the field of sports and be recognized as a city of athletes as well.

The sports complex, being built at a cost of about ₹48.54 crore, will include a modern cricket stadium, VIP pavilion stand, foot overbridge, handball court, sitting steps, and an overhead water tank—all of which are nearly complete. The finishing work of the stadium is in its final stage. Once operational, athletes will get world-class facilities that will further polish their talent.

A Dream Stuck Since 2006 Now Coming True
This project of the sports department was first initiated in 2006 but remained stalled for years. In 2023, the Centralized National Development Scheme (CNDS) accelerated the work, and now the sports complex is in the process of being handed over. With its completion, athletes of Ayodhya will no longer have to depend on other cities for practice or competitions.

Excitement Among Players and Youth
Sportspersons and enthusiasts are thrilled about the project. They believe that this complex will place Ayodhya on the sports map of the country. Young athletes emerging from here will now have the opportunity to directly showcase their talent in national and international competitions.

The Yogi government has been consistently expanding sports infrastructure, training centers, tournaments, and schemes to encourage athletes. The Ayodhya sports complex will not only nurture local talent but also act as a milestone in the government’s mission to make Uttar Pradesh a sports powerhouse.

Devvrat Pawar, Project Manager at CNDS, said earlier the lack of a foot overbridge and pavilion caused major difficulties for players. Now, with these works completed, the handover process is moving forward swiftly.
