Along with Increasing Milk Production, Better Marketing is Essential : CM Dr. Yadav

Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that, along with increasing milk production, equal emphasis must be placed on better branding of dairy products, proper cattle care, training in the veterinary sector and development of advanced infrastructure. He directed that the expertise of the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) be utilised to the fullest in these areas. By 2030, dairy network expansion must be ensured to 26,000 villages of the state, leading to the collection of 52 lakh kilograms of milk. To ensure optimal utilisation of the enhanced milk collection, state-of-the-art dairy processing infrastructure should be developed and dairy products from Madhya Pradesh must be established with strong national-level branding.

CM Dr. Yadav was addressing a meeting at Mantralaya on Tuesday regarding the activities of NDDB and the state’s milk unions.

Veterinary Courses to Be Conducted in All Universities

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that, with the support of the Veterinary Council of India, veterinary courses should be introduced in all universities of Madhya Pradesh. He also emphasised the need for NDDB’s support in upgrading and managing large ‘Gaushalas’ under urban bodies. CM Dr. Yadav emphasised that all milk unions should adopt Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure uniformity in product manufacturing. Regular monitoring must be done to guarantee timely and consistent payment to milk producers. In areas where the reach of milk unions is limited, private dairy entrepreneurs should be encouraged and strengthened by providing them with necessary training in modern technology. He further directed that effective coordination be ensured among state milk unions, the Madhya Pradesh State Rural Livelihood Mission and the Madhya Pradesh Agro-Industries Development Corporation.

Milk Unions Bringing Innovations for Members’ Welfare

It was informed in meeting that the process of digitising the entire dairy chain has begun. The Indore Milk Union has launched a mobile app for milk collection, enabling producers to instantly access details regarding the quantity, quality, and value of their supplied milk. The Bhopal Milk Union has launched the campaign ‘Doodh ka Doodh, Pani ka Pani’ to enable urban consumers to test the quality of milk. It has also launched the ‘Sanchi Bhaat Yojana’, under which cooperative society members’ daughters receive Rs. 11,000 and clothing as wedding assistance. Similarly, the Ujjain Milk Union has introduced special grants to improve livestock health.

The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary to CM Shri Neeraj Mandloi, Principal Secretary (Animal Husbandry & Dairy Development) Shri Umakant Umrao, NDDB Chairman Dr. Minesh Shah, Veterinary Council of India Chairman Dr. Umesh Sharma and senior officials.
