CM Yogi to felicitate Lucknow’s own Shubhanshu Shukla on August 25
Lucknow, August 2025 : Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will felicitate Lucknow-born Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla on Monday, marking his return from a successful mission at the International Space Station (ISS). This will be his first visit to Lucknow after completing the historic mission.
The Uttar Pradesh government has organised a grand ceremony under the Department of Science and Technology to honour Shukla, who has been hailed as a national hero. Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Brajesh Pathak, along with several other prominent leaders, will also be present at the event.
An accomplished Indian Air Force pilot, Group Captain Shukla made history by becoming the first Indian to set foot on the ISS as part of the Axiom-4 mission. During his stay, he conducted over 60 scientific experiments and interacted with students across the world, sharing insights from space.
On returning to India, Shukla presented Prime Minister Narendra Modi with the tricolour and mission patch he carried to space — a moment that stirred emotions nationwide.
Describing Shukla as a symbol of courage and dedication, CM Yogi said: “Your achievement is a proud symbol of courage, dedication, and commitment to science. Today, every Indian, especially the people of Uttar Pradesh, feel honoured.”
The Chief Minister further added that raising India’s flag in space is a matter of pride for every citizen and that Shukla’s success proves how Uttar Pradesh’s youth are excelling globally in science and technology. “Honouring Shubhanshu will inspire future generations to dream big and turn those dreams into reality,” he said.
Shukla’s remarkable achievement has not only placed India firmly on the map of space exploration but also reinforced Uttar Pradesh’s growing legacy in producing leaders in every field.
