Approval for Marine Passenger Transport for Konkan Residents – Minister Nitesh Rane

Mumbai–Ratnagiri–Sindhudurg Sea Route to be a Revolutionary Step

Mumbai, Aug 2025 :Marine passenger transport between Mumbai and the districts of Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg has received official approval, marking the beginning of a new era in coastal connectivity. For the first time, passenger sea transport will commence on this route, which will prove to be a revolutionary step, said Fisheries and Ports Minister Nitesh Rane.

The minister inspected the preparations for the launch of passenger services by M2M Princess, a Ro-Ro company, at Bhaucha Dhakka in Mazgaon.

Minister Rane said, “Travel time to Ratnagiri by sea will be around three hours, while Sindhudurg will be reachable in five to six hours. This will save a significant amount of time for Konkan residents. The service has been approved after securing all necessary permissions from both the central and state governments. More transport companies are also coming forward to operate on this route.”

On this occasion, Minister Rane also inspected the M2M Princess passenger vessel.

Although preliminary preparations have been completed, the service will commence only after assessing the marine weather conditions, the company informed. Once operational, the Ro-Ro passenger ferry service by M2M Princess is expected to provide a safe and time-saving travel option for commuters to Konkan.
