‘UMED’ Shines at SIAL India 2025
Products of Rural Women to Reach Global Market through Efforts of Rural Development Minister Jaykumar Gore”
National and International Platforms Open Up for Rural Women’s Products
Mumbai, Aug 2025 : At SIAL India 2025, the country’s largest food expo being held at Jio World Convention Centre, Mumbai, the products presented by women farmer-producer companies from Maharashtra Government’s ‘UMED’ Campaign have received special appreciation.
Due to the efforts of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Jaykumar Gore, the participation of women from the UMED Campaign in SIAL India will ensure that their products directly reach the global market through this platform. This has become a golden opportunity for rural women to gain access to both national and international markets.
A total of more than 17 products have been showcased in this exhibition, including pomegranates, bananas, drumsticks from Madha; Nashik’s red onions; Dharashiv’s nutritious vermicelli; Waigaon’s GI-certified turmeric; Alphonso mangoes from Devgad, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg; Satara’s millet cookies and cold-pressed oil; Solapur’s Maldandi jowar; famous Indrayani and Chinur rice; Charu pigeon pea (toor dal); as well as bajra, ragi and chilli.
Global Recognition
The expo was inaugurated by SIAL Director General Nicolas Trentesaux and APEDA Chairman Abhishek Dev.
Trentesaux visited the various stalls of UMED, inspected the quality of the products, and invited UMED to participate in Gulf SIAL and Delhi SIAL. Meanwhile, Abhishek Dev announced that UMED’s products would be made available on the APEDA portal.
Chief Executive Officer of UMED Campaign Nilesh Sagar and Chief Operating Officer Nikhilkumar Oswal praised the hard work of rural women and expressed confidence that this achievement would give new strength to Maharashtra’s rural economy.
With this success at SIAL India 2025, doors to the global market have now opened for rural women. Recently, through the initiative of Rural Development Minister Jaykumar Gore, a permanent exhibition hall has also been made available at Maharashtra Sadan, Delhi for products of women under the UMED Campaign. Their products reflect the rich traditions of Maharashtra. This achievement marks an important step towards women empowerment and rural development.

In this exhibition, UMED Campaign showcased 17 types of unique and high-quality products, including:
- Pomegranates, bananas, drumsticks from Madha
- Nashik’s famous red onion
- Nutrient-rich vermicelli from Dharashiv
- Waigaon’s Geographical Indication (GI) certified turmeric
- Alphonso mangoes from Devgad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg
