‘Dharparoom’ Emerging as a New Tourist Destination in Kanker District

Raipur, Aug 2025 : Kanker district, blessed with natural beauty and scenic charm, holds immense potential in the field of tourism. Amid its hills and forests lie several places that attract visitors with their unique natural features. Among these is a newly emerging tourist spot — ‘Dharparoom’, which is fast becoming the first choice of travelers due to its picturesque valleys, viewpoints, natural waterfalls, and caves.

Located near Gram Panchayat Pidhapal in Kanker development block, Dharparoom is situated about 25 kilometers from the district headquarters. Surrounded by hills, the area is rich in natural splendor. Along with its valley-like formation, the site also features a natural waterfall, caves, and rock paintings of archaeological importance. At present, the site is being managed and maintained at the community level by local villagers, and with their participation, a large number of tourists are visiting the place daily.

Collector Mr. Nilesh Kumar Mahadev Kshirsagar and Chief Executive Officer of District Panchayat Mr. Haresh Mandavi, after inspecting the Dharparoom area, expressed their intention to take steps towards developing it as a new tourism center. They also interacted with the villagers and learned about the background and historical significance of the region.

It is worth noting that recently, some media representatives visited the site and shared visuals on social media, after which the number of tourists visiting the spot has been steadily increasing. Visitors believe that Dharparoom could be developed into a hill station even larger than Tatamari of Keshkal.

The natural grandeur of Dharparoom and its unique geographical structure are making it an emerging tourist destination of Kanker district. With administrative support and active participation of villagers, this area is poised to carve out a special identity as one of the major tourist attractions of the district in the near future.
