Ensure Every Possible Help for Bastar Flood Victims: Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai

In-charge Secretaries Must Visit Flood-Hit Districts and Inspect Relief Works: CM Sai

Raipur, Aug 2025 : Chief Minister Mr. Vishnudev Sai has directed that every possible assistance must be made available to each flood-affected family in the Bastar division. He said that it is the highest responsibility of the administration to reduce the suffering of the flood-affected families at the earliest. He emphasized that people must feel that in this hour of crisis, the administration is standing firmly with them.

Chief Minister Mr. Vishnudev Sai, through video conferencing today, issued these directions while conducting a detailed review of relief and rehabilitation works with the Collectors and senior officials of flood-affected districts of Bastar division — Bastar, Dantewada, Bijapur, and Sukma.

The Chief Minister directed the officials to ensure that relief compensation for loss of human life and livestock due to floods is provided to the affected families without any delay. He instructed that distribution of tarpaulins, bamboo-poles, and relief assistance for repairing damaged houses be prioritized.

The Chief Minister further said that the in-charge Secretaries of flood-affected districts must visit their respective districts and ensure continuous supervision of relief works.

He also instructed the concerned departments to carry out restoration of road connectivity to affected villages, repair of damaged bridges and culverts, and restoration of power supply on a war footing. He said that in a sensitive region like Bastar, timely restoration of basic facilities is the key to the success of relief operations.

The review meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Mr. Amitabh Jain and Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Mr. Subodh Singh. Chief Secretary Mr. Jain asked the Collectors that if they require additional support from the state government, they should immediately send proposals so that timely decisions can be taken at the government level. Principal Secretary to the CM Mr. Subodh Singh directed the Collectors to ensure adequate arrangements for food, clothing, and dry rations in relief camps. He also stressed that health camps and availability of safe drinking water must be compulsorily ensured in relief camps and affected villages.

At the beginning of the meeting, Revenue Secretary Mrs. Reena Babasaheb Kangle apprised the Chief Minister about the flood situation in Bastar and the relief measures taken so far. She informed that additional ration has already been allocated to all flood-affected districts and the supplies are being delivered to affected families.

Subsequently, the Chief Minister held direct interactions with the Collectors of the four districts and took updates on the progress of ongoing relief and rehabilitation works in their respective districts. The Collectors informed that in most of the flood-hit areas, the water level has started receding and the situation is under control. The review meeting noted that the administration’s full focus is presently on expediting relief and rehabilitation operations.

The meeting was also attended by Secretary of Public Works Department Mr. Kamalpreet Singh, Commissioner of Bastar Division Mr. Doman Singh, and Inspector General of Police Mr. P. Sundarraj.
