Amid Floods, AAP MLA Safeguards Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji; CM, Cabinet Ministers and All MLAs to Donate One Month’s Salary

Chandigarh, Aug 2025 : In Punjab’s Hoshiarpur district, village Abdullapur witnessed an incident during the floods that set an example of harmony between humanity, faith, and politics. When the waters of the Beas River engulfed the entire village, Jasvir Singh Raja Gill, the Aam Aadmi Party MLA from Urmar constituency, upheld Sikh traditions by respectfully and safely moving the holy form of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji to a secure location.

The moment quickly went viral on social media, evoking a deep emotional response among the people of Punjab. Before removing the sacred scripture from the Gurudwara with the help of the sangat (devotees), Raja Gill offered Ardas (prayer) and sought blessings for the peace and well-being of all. This scene stood as proof that even in the face of natural disasters, religious dignity and the reverence of Guru Sahiban cannot be compromised. At the same time, AAP legislators conveyed the message that both public safety and religious faith are their responsibility.

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the Punjab government has also accelerated relief and rescue operations, reaffirming that the administration stands firmly with every Punjabi. Cabinet ministers and officials continue to visit flood-affected areas, while the administrative machinery works around the clock for relief. Additionally, the Chief Minister, cabinet ministers, and all AAP MLAs have pledged to donate one month’s salary to support flood victims—an act symbolizing emotional solidarity and service to the people.

While fields were submerged and homes inundated, AAP representatives demonstrated that their duty is not only to save lives but also to honor religious traditions. This has deepened the trust of the Sikh sangat and the wider public, who now see their government as committed not only to immediate aid but also to upholding cultural and spiritual values.

This act and decision symbolize that politics is not limited to power alone—when combined with humanity and faith, it establishes true Rajdharma. Chief Minister Mann and his team have shown that service, spirituality, and the rights of the people flow together in the veins of the Punjab government. The overarching message across Punjab today is clear: in times of crisis, the government and the sangat together form the real strength.
