BJP’s Four-Engine Government Fails Again After Brief Rainfall, Delhi Flooded: AAP
- “If this is how BJP wants to run Delhi, then instead of its four engines, it should sell them for scrap and buy four boats,” says AAP.
- “BJP has even stopped making false claims now; it’s just waiting for the rainy season to end and the crisis to pass,” says Saurabh Bharadwaj.
- “Manish Sisodia built schools in Patparganj, but BJP has turned highways into swimming pools,” he added.
- “If desilting has been done properly and contractors have been paid fairly, why is the CM afraid of an audit?” questions Bharadwaj.
- “In just six months, the BJP government has drowned Delhi – this is CM Rekha Gupta’s so-called ‘Proper Management’,” says Atishi.
New Delhi, Aug 2025 : Delhi once again went under water after just a short spell of rain on Friday, with the BJP government’s “four engines” failing to cope. AAP Delhi convenor Saurabh Bharadwaj, Leader of Opposition Atishi, and other party leaders shared videos of severe waterlogging from Patparganj, Sangam Vihar, Laxmi Nagar, AIIMS, Geeta Colony, Sanjay Lake, South Delhi, and MB Road, targeting the BJP government for mismanagement.
AAP sarcastically said that if this is how Delhi is going to be run, BJP should sell its four engines as scrap and instead buy four boats. “Why should only Delhiites enjoy the facilities provided by BJP?” the party remarked.
Saurabh Bharadwaj mocked the government, pointing out that even Sanjay Lake had expanded due to flooding: “Entire areas around the lake have turned into water bodies. BJP has increased the number of lakes in Delhi. Earlier, Manish Sisodia built schools and a few swimming pools, but BJP has now converted highways into swimming pools and is asking people to swim as much as they can.”
He added that stagnant water near old buildings weakens foundations, leading to accidents. This monsoon, Delhi has witnessed multiple tragedies: a wall collapse in Vasant Kunj killed two children; a roof collapse near Nizamuddin killed seven; another wall collapse near Badarpur killed seven; a tree fall in Kalkaji killed one; an electric pole fall killed two; and a toddler fell into an open sewer on Raksha Bandhan and died. According to Bharadwaj, 35–40 people have died in Delhi this monsoon due to rain-related incidents.
Comparing this with an earlier tragedy during the AAP government, where three students died in Rajendra Nagar, Bharadwaj said, “Back then, BJP created an uproar and even the LG visited the site. Now, despite so many deaths, neither BJP leaders nor the LG are showing concern. Are these lives worth less?”
Bharadwaj further posted a video of NH-24 in Patparganj, claiming BJP had stopped even making false claims: “They’re just waiting for the rains to end. Delhiites fear this government will push the city backward in every sector. If desilting was really done, and contractors were paid properly, why fear a third-party audit?”
Leader of Opposition Atishi also shared videos of waterlogged areas, saying, “Look at Patparganj—just a little rain and the roads and lanes turn into rivers. In just six months, BJP’s four-engine government has drowned Delhi. Is this CM Rekha Gupta’s idea of proper management?”
AAP leaders mocked the situation across the capital: in South Delhi, they said the situation was “like Venice”; in Sangam Vihar, water levels were above the knees with vehicles stuck, prompting AAP to warn residents to carry life jackets; and on MB Road, waterlogging turned it into “MB River” with three to four feet of water.
“Every day, BJP seems to give Delhiites a new challenge—today it’s MB River, tomorrow something else. Let’s see how far people can swim,” AAP leaders quipped.
