Farmers Becoming Self-Reliant Through Farmer-Friendly Government Schemes

Modern Vegetable Farming Helps Sitaram Rajput Earn ₹15–16 Lakh Annually

Raipur, Sept 2025 : The positive results of Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai’s transparent and farmer-friendly governance are now visible in villages. With sincerity and honesty in implementing government schemes, the lives of farmers in the state are improving—living examples of which can be seen on the ground.

One such inspiring story is that of Sitaram Rajput, son of Ishwar Prasad, a farmer from Kalarjewra village in Patharia block, Mungeli district. By adopting modern vegetable farming and working with dedication, Rajput has set a new benchmark in agriculture. His grandfather and father were already engaged in horticulture and farming. For nearly a decade, his father practiced traditional paddy cultivation. Carrying forward this legacy, Sitaram Rajput, after completing his graduation, decided to make farming his profession.

He began vegetable cultivation on two acres of land and gradually expanded his operations. Today, Sitaram Rajput earns an annual income of about ₹15–16 lakh solely from vegetable farming.

With the guidance of the District Horticulture Department, Mungeli, Rajput has benefitted from various government schemes, including vegetable minikits, agricultural equipment, seeds, organic fertilizers, community nurseries, and drip irrigation systems. By utilizing these resources, he has transformed farming into a profitable and sustainable enterprise.

Rajput has also actively participated in the Swachh Srijan Mahotsav, district-level Kisan Melas, fishery and agriculture seminars, and various agricultural exhibitions, where he shared his experiences and success story. His journey stands as a source of inspiration for fellow farmers in the district, proving how government support combined with personal effort can create self-reliant and prosperous farming communities.
