DEPM Hosts Training Session on Export Policy and Global Market Integration

Ambassadors urged to make use of the opportunity

Bhubaneswar, Sept 2025: The Directorate of Export Promotion & Marketing (DEPM), Odisha, convened a State Attachment Training Session on Odisha’s Export Policy and Export Landscape at Hotel Mayfair, Bhubaneswar, bringing together policymakers, trade bodies, and international representatives to chart a stronger path for the state’s exports.

The session featured insights from Shri Manoj Kumar Mohapatra (Ambassador to Bucharest), Ms. Gloria Gangte (High Commissioner to the Republic of Malta), and Shri Amit Narang (Ambassador to Slovenia); offered perspectives on global market access and international cooperation. Ambassadors exhorted the exporters to utilise their offices to enhance their interactions with their counterparts in the respective countries. The countries of Malta & Slovenia for e.g. is a gateway to Europe & should be taken advantage of, they said. They hoped that with the help granted by the state of Odisha, they would leverage the available opportunities and proceed to leave their imprints in their foreign shores. The Panel discussion moderated by Mrs. Nimeshika Natarajan, Regional Director of the World Trade Center, Bhubaneswar, examined opportunities for Odisha’s exports, challenges faced by local producers, and the role of policy support.
The training session opened with a welcome address by Shri Sanjay Kumar Mishra, Director, DEPM, who emphasized the need for coordinated efforts to expand the state’s global trade footprint. Key industry and trade leaders addressed the gathering, including Mr. Sitakant Mandal (APEDA, Kolkata), Dr. A. Lahiri (MPEDA), Mr. Gyana R. Mohanty (UCCI), Mr. Rajen Padhi (FICCI Odisha State Council), and Mr. Kamal Kanta Sahoo (FIEO Odisha).

This initiative reflects Odisha’s growing focus on strengthening its export ecosystem, with government, industry, and international stakeholders working together to enhance the state’s presence in global markets.

Closing the program, Shri S.R. Mishra, Assistant Director of DEPM, expressed gratitude to the dignitaries and participants, reaffirming the state’s commitment to building stronger export capacities.

Sri Mahesh Choudhury, Addl. Secretary; Sri Kamaljit Das, Joint Secretary, Pravakar Das, Joint Director, DEPM, entrepreneur, exporter, officers of different department were present in the training session.
