56th GST Council Meeting in New Delhi – Corrective Measures in GST System Will Strengthen States’ Revenue: Minister of State for Industry & Commerce
Jaipur, Sept 2025: The 56th meeting of the GST Council, chaired by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, was held on Wednesday at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, New Delhi. The meeting witnessed extensive discussions on making the country’s tax system more transparent, simplified, and citizen-friendly.
Representing Rajasthan, Minister of State K.K. Vishnoi firmly presented the state’s perspective, highlighting that the discussions focused on ways to make the GST framework easier and more organized for both businesses and common citizens. Key issues included necessary revisions in tax rates, exemptions and concessions, relief measures for small traders, and leveraging technology to ensure transparency and provide convenience to honest taxpayers.
The Minister of State for Industry emphasized that upcoming corrective measures in the GST system will not only reduce complexities but also strengthen the revenue earnings of state governments, enabling them to extend greater benefits and facilities to the public.
He further said that under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the historic GST system has provided strong momentum to the Indian economy in the direction of “One Nation, One Tax.” GST has simplified the process of doing business and significantly improved the financial position of the states.
Mr. Vishnoi expressed confidence that the forthcoming reforms will be beneficial for both citizens and businesses, while also giving fresh impetus and new heights to the Indian economy.
The meeting was also attended by Chief Ministers and Finance Ministers from various states, the Revenue Secretary, the Chairman and Members of CBIC, and senior officials of the Ministry of Finance.
