Rajasthan Reviews Fertilizer Supply for Rabi Season: 98% Urea, 88% DAP Supplied; Crackdown on Black Marketing with Action Against 981 Dealers

Jaipur, Sept 2025 – A state-level meeting of the Fertilizer Distribution Regulatory Task Force was held on Thursday at the Secretariat under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Shri Sudhansh Pant.

The Chief Secretary emphasized that the Rabi season is fertilizer-intensive and directed all fertilizer companies to ensure timely supply to meet farmers’ demand. He noted that due to unexpected rainfall this year, farmers require additional support. The Agriculture Commissioner was instructed to monitor the situation closely and resolve issues on priority.

Transparent Distribution and Action Against Black Marketing

Pant underlined the need for coordination among departments to provide farmers with quality fertilizers on time. He directed the police department to launch special drives against black marketing, ensure transparent distribution through cooperative societies, and strictly enforce the Fertilizer Control Order, 1985.

Strengthening Railway Rake Points

To ease supply pressure during peak demand, the Railway Department was instructed to strengthen rake points at Jaipur, Hanumangarh, Jhunjhunu, and Dausa with additional facilities. Currently, Rajasthan operates 35 rake points, including 15 regular, 12 seasonal, and 8 for contingency supplies.

Fertilizer Availability Status

In her presentation, Agriculture and Horticulture Commissioner Ms. Chinmayi Gopal reported that 98% of the state’s kharif season demand for urea has been supplied, while DAP availability has reached 88%. However, NPK and MOP availability remained lower. District-wise reviews showed maximum availability of urea and DAP in most regions.

Company-Wise Performance

The review revealed that GSFC supplied 224% of its urea target, achieving the best performance, followed by IPL at 153%. RCF recorded the lowest supply at 69%. For DAP, Coromandel exceeded its supply targets. Farmers are increasingly shifting to alternatives, with SSP use up by 28% and NPK by 83%.

Departmental Measures and Enforcement

Control rooms have been set up at the district level to monitor supplies, and all retailers are required to display stock and price lists. The government has taken strict action against violators, with 981 retail fertilizer dealers penalized for irregularities so far.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from Agriculture, Cooperation, Food and Civil Supplies, Railways, police, and fertilizer companies.
