Imran Khan’s Sister Aleema Attacked with Egg Outside Adiala Jail, Political Leaders Condemn Incident

Pakistan, Sep 2025 : Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan’s sister, Aleema Khan, was attacked with an egg while speaking to reporters outside Rawalpindi’s Adiala Jail on Friday, police confirmed. Imran Khan, chief of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, is currently lodged in the same jail.

Videos circulating on social media showed the moment an egg was hurled at Aleema during the press interaction. Following the incident, PTI supporters apprehended two women accused of throwing the eggs and handed them over to the police.

In a statement, Rawalpindi police said the two women were PTI supporters who had joined a protest organized by the All Government Employees Grand Alliance over unfulfilled demands. “The eggs were hurled when Aleema did not answer their questions,” the statement said. Both women were taken into custody and later shifted to Adiala Chowki.

The PTI condemned the act as “shameful,” alleging that the women had been “sent under a political agenda” and were allowed to escape with police assistance. The party maintained that the incident was orchestrated to embarrass its leadership.

The attack sparked widespread condemnation across the political spectrum. Akhtar Mengal, chief of the Balochistan National Party-Mengal, said: “Even in enmity, a woman deserves respect. Targeting women is the vilest form of politics and should be condemned in the strongest terms.”

Federal Development Minister Ahsan Iqbal also denounced the incident, stressing that politics must remain “a contest of ideas, not violence or hatred.” Similarly, PML-N leader Khawaja Saad Rafique called the act “shameful, disgusting, and vulgar.”

The incident underscores the increasingly tense political climate in Pakistan, where confrontations between rival groups continue to escalate around Imran Khan’s legal and political battles.
