“Chief Minister Assesses Heavy Rain Impact at Emergency Operation Center”
Gandhinagar : Responding to the extensive and heavy rainfall impacting Gujarat, Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel arrived at the State Emergency Operations Center in Gandhinagar to closely monitor the situation. Joined by Chief Secretary Raj Kumar and senior officials, the CM conducted a video conference with collectors from the seven affected districts and the Municipal Commissioners of Vadodara and Surat to get comprehensive updates on the current conditions.
The Chief Minister assessed the efforts to safely relocate residents from low-lying areas in the affected districts, ensuring that shelter homes were equipped with sufficient health services, food supplies, and other essential amenities. CM directed that once the water recedes and the rain ceases, immediate attention should be given to clearing mud and debris, spraying insecticides, and removing fallen trees. Emphasizing the need for continued vigilance and coordination among district authorities, the Chief Minister praised the current measures that have mitigated extensive damage. He urged maintaining this high level of alertness throughout the ongoing monsoon season. Maintaining constant communication with the state control room, the Chief Minister recommended proactive planning to mitigate potential damage. The restoration of electricity supply in affected areas was reviewed, with repair efforts being conducted on an urgent basis. The Roads and Buildings Department has been directed to deploy machinery such as JCBs to clear obstacles like fallen trees and utility poles, ensuring the rapid reopening of blocked roads.
The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of ongoing monitoring in areas where reservoirs and dams are full or at critical levels and urged the implementation of safety measures to protect lives and property in both command and catchment areas. The meeting also focused on arranging support for human fatalities, livestock losses, and agricultural damage, underscoring the necessity of comprehensive surveys. The Chief Minister reviewed the deployment of NDRF and SDRF teams for rescue and relief operations, ensuring their support to local authorities. To tackle the rainy crisis with a zero-casualty approach, Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel instructed district collectors to prepare for proactive relief and rescue operations, as per meteorological advisories.
