Andhra Pradesh Sets Up 360-Degree GCC Advisory Council to Attract Global Investments
Vijayawada, Sept 2025 : In a significant move to position Andhra Pradesh as India’s next hub for Global Capability Centres (GCCs), the state government has announced the formation of a comprehensive 360-degree GCC Advisory Council. The initiative aims to bring together leaders from multinational corporations, industry associations, global business councils, consultancies, real estate developers, and top academic institutions to drive large-scale GCC investments into the state.
What GCCs Mean for Andhra Pradesh
Global Capability Centres (GCCs) are strategic offshore units established by multinational corporations to manage high-value functions such as research and development, IT, finance, procurement, and client services. Unlike conventional outsourcing, GCCs are wholly owned by their parent firms, ensuring deeper innovation, efficiency, and seamless integration with global operations.
India already hosts more than 1,600 GCCs employing 1.6 million professionals, making it one of the fastest-growing sectors in the digital economy. Andhra Pradesh is now positioning itself aggressively to attract the next wave of GCCs and establish itself as a national leader in this space.
Mandate of the GCC Advisory Council
The newly constituted Council has been tasked with creating a five-year strategic roadmap for Andhra Pradesh’s GCC ecosystem. Its responsibilities include:
- Talent Development: Building a future-ready workforce by collaborating with premier institutions such as IIT Tirupati and IIM Visakhapatnam, alongside advanced skill development initiatives.
- Innovation and R&D: Promoting global collaborations to strengthen research capabilities.
- Infrastructure Development: Establishing world-class IT parks, plug-and-play facilities, and grade-A commercial spaces to meet international standards.
- Policy Oversight: Reviewing and monitoring the implementation of the state’s IT and GCC Policy (4.0).
- Global Outreach: Organising national and international roadshows across the US, Europe, and Asia to brand Andhra Pradesh as a premier GCC destination.
Who’s on the Council
The Council brings together a diverse group of stakeholders, ensuring credibility and industry alignment. Members include:
- CXOs/India Heads of MNCs: AXA XL, Mastercard, Warner Bros. Discovery, Novartis, Syngenta, BT Group.
- Industry Bodies: NASSCOM.
- Global Business Councils: USIBC, EBTC.
- Consulting Firms: ANSR, EY, KPMG, Deloitte, Primus Partners.
- Real Estate Leaders: Knight Frank India, Prestige Group, Sattva, Sobha.
- Talent Partners: Quess Corp.
- Academia: IIT Tirupati, IIM Visakhapatnam.
Looking Ahead
The government has also approved a three-month series of roadshows to directly engage with global corporations. Officials expect this initiative to generate thousands of high-value jobs, accelerate foreign investments, and firmly place Andhra Pradesh on the global technology map.
“With the establishment of this Council, Andhra Pradesh is set to usher in a new era of GCC-driven growth,” said officials, highlighting the state’s vision of becoming a global hub for innovation and digital economy leadership.
