KTR Warns Jubilee Hills Voters: ‘A Vote for Congress Is a Licence to Demolish Homes’
Hyderabad, Sept 2025 : Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K.T. Rama Rao on Wednesday issued a sharp warning to the people of Jubilee Hills constituency, declaring that a vote for Congress in the upcoming by-election would effectively give the government a “licence to demolish homes.”
Speaking at a meeting of BRS workers from the constituency at the party headquarters, Telangana Bhavan, KTR accused the ruling Congress of instilling fear among voters by threatening to stop welfare schemes if they did not back the party. He alleged that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy was conspiring to manipulate the by-election outcome using massive amounts of unaccounted black money, which he claimed had been extorted from builders in the name of HYDRAA (Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency).
“Will HYDRAA dare to demolish the illegal house built by Revanth Reddy’s own brother, Tirupati Reddy, in Durgam Cheruvu?” KTR asked, lambasting the Congress government for selectively targeting the poor while sparing the wealthy and powerful. He accused the administration of exploiting ordinary citizens with “the arrogance of power” while protecting vested interests.
The BRS leader further questioned whether the much-invoked slogan of “Indiramma Rajyam” was being reduced to nothing more than large-scale demolitions of people’s homes. He expressed anguish over the death of Sardar, a BRS worker, who allegedly took his own life after his house was demolished due to political vendetta, for not joining the Congress. KTR also recalled the tragic case of Buchamma, a woman from Kukatpally, who died by suicide fearing that her home would be razed by HYDRAA.
Reiterating his warning, KTR said: “A mistaken vote for Congress in Jubilee Hills will be equivalent to giving them a licence to demolish homes.”
Turning to the performance of the Congress government, KTR charged that in its 22 months of rule, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had not delivered a single tangible benefit to the people. Instead, he said, the government was resorting to “shortcuts and tricks” to secure victory in the Jubilee Hills by-election. He added that public sentiment had soured against Congress, which had failed to keep its promises and was now blaming debts for its inefficiency.
Addressing the issue of minority representation, KTR urged minority communities to see through what he described as the “double standards” of the Congress leadership. “Revanth Reddy is acting like a BJP Chief Minister, treating Prime Minister Modi as his elder brother and working under his guidance,” he alleged. He pointed out the contradiction between Rahul Gandhi’s strong stance against Modi, the BJP, and central agencies like the CBI, and Revanth’s open alignment with them. “A vote for Revanth-led Congress is essentially a vote for Modi and the BJP,” KTR claimed.
He also criticised Congress for neglecting minority welfare and development schemes that had been implemented during the BRS government’s decade-long rule. For the first time, KTR said, a Congress-led government had formed without including a single minority minister. He accused the party of deceiving minority communities by failing to nominate an MLC from their ranks and cancelling flagship programmes such as Shaadi Mubarak and minority residential schools.
KTR called upon BRS cadres to gear up for the upcoming by-election, which he indicated could be held in the last week of October or the first week of November. The seat fell vacant following the death of sitting MLA Maganti Gopinath of BRS.
He expressed hope that the constituency would extend its support to Gopinath’s wife, Maganti Sunitha, who has been fielded by the party as its candidate. Praising the contributions of the late MLA and his family, KTR urged voters to bless Sunitha with a decisive majority. “The Gopinath family has stood by the people of Jubilee Hills during difficult times and contributed immensely to public welfare. It is now time for the people to stand with them,” he said.
