Uttar Pradesh Fire department bags FSAI’s highest honour
Lucknow, Sept 2025 : At an international programme organized by FSAI (Fire and Security Association of India) at Yashobhoomi Convention Hall in Dwarka, New Delhi, the Uttar Pradesh Fire and Emergency Services Department was conferred with the Bravery and Superheroof Fire Services Award for outstanding work during Mahakumbh 2025. The award was presented to the team led by ADG Padmaja Chauhan (IPS).
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had pledged a “Safe Mahakumbh” from the outset of preparations. With advanced technology, modern equipment, and large-scale deployment of resources under close government monitoring, the Fire and Emergency Services ensured that not a single life was lost to fire incidents during the massive gathering, marking the safe and successful conclusion of Mahakumbh 2025.
ADG Padmaja Chauhan said, “Under the guidance of CM Yogi Adityanath, the department swiftly controlled even the most serious fire incidents and successfully achieved the target of zero casualties during the entire 45-day event. In this period, the department handled 185 fire incidents and 24 major fires, saving property worth approximately Rs16.5 crore.
Key officials who were felicitated included Pramod Sharma (Nodal Officer, Mahakumbh Mela), Ankush Mittal (CFO), Ramesh Tiwari (CFO), Sanjeev Kumar (Fire Officer), and Amit Kumar (Second Fire Officer).
Pramod Sharma, the Nodal Officer at Mahakumbh Mela, said that the Fire department’s war-level preparations before the event made it possible for the team to bravely handle fire-related incidents day and night during the Mahakumbh and achieve the record of zero casualties.
He further informed that during Mahakumbh 2025, 54 fire stations and 27 outposts were established across 25 sectors, with 1,500 trained personnel deployed. A fleet of 351 fire tenders and modern equipment was made available, supported by advanced technologies such as articulating water towers, quick response vehicles, ATVs, fire mist bikes, robots, and firefighting boats.
Notably, before Mahakumbh, Goa CM Dr. Pramod Sawant had also felicitated ADG Padmaja Chauhan and Nodal Officer Pramod Sharma and appreciated the preparedness of UP Fire Services.
Despite the arrival of over 66.5 crore devotees at Mahakumbh 2025, the UP Fire Department fulfilled the Yogi government’s pledge of a safe Mahakumbh. This achievement is now being recognized across the country and abroad.
