ZMC&H VRDL Laboratory Honoured with Award
Aizawl, Sept 2025: At the VRDL Conclave 2025 organized by the Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare in New Delhi, Mizoram’s VRDL at Zoram Medical College & Hospital (ZMC&H) received the Best Practices VRDL and Award of Excellence. Among the top-performing VRDLs evaluated by ICMR, ZMC&H ranked 5th in India in the Silver Category. The award was presented to ZMC&H VRDL by Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare, Smt. Anupriya Patel, in New Delhi.
Currently, there are 164 VRDLs across India. The VRDL at ZMC&H was established in 2021 and is presently managed by the Department of Microbiology at ZMC&H. This laboratory is one of the most advanced facilities for viral disease detection. It has been instrumental in identifying viral infections such as COVID-19, influenza, and other viruses, and continues to provide significant support in patient care and disease management.
