RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra paid a courtesy call on Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami

Sept 2025 : RBI Governor Shri Sanjay Malhotra paid a courtesy call on Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami. Discussion held on the state’s economic development, banking expansion, and digital financial inclusion. The Chief Minister presented suggestions regarding banking access in rural areas of Uttarakhand. RBI assured the state government of all possible cooperation.

Today, RBI Governor Shri Sanjay Malhotra paid a courtesy call on Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami at the Chief Minister’s residence in Dehradun. This meeting focused on various aspects related to the state’s economic scenario, financial inclusion, and strengthening of banking services in Uttarakhand.

Welcoming the RBI Governor on his arrival in Uttarakhand, the Chief Minister said that meeting the head of the country’s financial institution is an important opportunity for the state’s economy. He said that the state government, giving priority to financial discipline, transparency, and digitalization, is working towards establishing Uttarakhand as a self-reliant and developed state.

The Chief Minister requested Shri Malhotra for RBI’s cooperation in expanding banking facilities in Uttarakhand’s hilly and rural areas, spreading the digital payment system, and effectively implementing financial literacy programs. He said that the state government wants banking services to be accessible even in those areas where there is still a lack of reach so that people can directly benefit from government schemes.

Referring to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s “Digital India” campaign, the Chief Minister said that Uttarakhand has made remarkable progress in recent years in the areas of digital transactions, DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer), and the availability of government services on online platforms.

RBI Governor Shri Sanjay Malhotra appreciated the efforts being made by the Uttarakhand government towards financial discipline, transparency, and good governance. He said that the Reserve Bank of India is committed to providing all possible cooperation in the state’s financial development and expansion of the banking base. He assured the Chief Minister that RBI will promote programs related to banking and financial literacy in remote areas of Uttarakhand.

In addition, consideration will also be given to making financial assistance facilities for the MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises) sector more accessible at the local level.
