Meeting of Lawngtlai DC with Central Young Lai Association Leaders
Lawngtlai, Sept 2025: Pu Donny Lalruatsanga, Deputy Commissioner of Lawngtlai, held a meeting with leaders of the Central Young Lai Association (CYLA) in his office chamber.
Pu Donny Lalruatsanga highlighted that the Young Lai Association, being the largest voluntary body in Lawngtlai District, plays an important role in promoting education, eradicating illiteracy, improving hygiene and health, preserving culture and traditions, promoting unity and morality, and cooperating with the government in various initiatives. He emphasized that their continued participation in developmental and social programs remains significant. He also urged CYLA leaders to remain committed and dedicated in their efforts going forward.
The CYLA leaders apprised the Deputy Commissioner of the steps taken and ongoing efforts by the Association for the district’s progress and protection. They particularly mentioned their initiatives in tackling drug abuse, measures taken to control illegal logging, and the need for stricter action regarding unchecked border interactions with Myanmar and Bangladesh. They also briefed him on their contributions to improving education, and the challenges faced by workers at the Lawngtlai District Hospital, PHCs, and Sub-Centres.
The CYLA further informed that there are 13 refugee camps in Lawngtlai town, and expressed that the government should establish proper checkpoints to effectively monitor and document refugees and migrants entering the district. They assured the DC that the CYLA will continue to support the government in all possible ways for the district’s development.
In response, Pu Donny Lalruatsanga, Lawngtlai DC, expressed his willingness to work closely with CYLA in addressing the issues highlighted. He conveyed his intention to extend support not only at the district level but also by taking the concerns to higher authorities when necessary.
