Review of “Book Nest Initiative” for Collection of Books for Students in Lungsen Aspirational Block
Lunglei, Sept 2025 : Under the leadership of Lunglei Deputy Commissioner Pi Navneet Mann, a review meeting was held on the ongoing “Book Nest Initiative”—a campaign to collect books for students of Lungsen Aspirational Block.
The meeting was attended by officials from the DC Office, Education Department, UD&PA, I&PR, along with leaders of Lunglei Sub-Headquarters YMA. From September 8–15, 2025, 21 branches under Lunglei Sub-Headquarters YMA organized book collection drives, the progress of which was reviewed in the meeting. Several YMA branches reported that they had already completed their targeted book collection, while others expressed confidence that their goals would be met within the campaign period.
It was also highlighted that book collection efforts are being undertaken in YMA branches across Lungsen town, with the support of the Lungsen BDO and YMA leaders. To ensure accountability and transparency, it was decided that each YMA branch and Self Help Group (SHG) would be responsible for verifying and documenting the books collected.
Once sufficient books are collected, they will be distributed to 60 selected government schools across Lungsen Aspirational Block. These schools will set up special corners called “Book Nests” where students can access and read the donated books. The Sub-Divisional Education Officer (SDEO) of Lungsen has already issued instructions for establishing these Book Nests, and it is expected that the process will be completed during the current phase of the campaign.
After the conclusion of the book collection drive, the initiative also plans to honour five best-performing YMA branches and SHGs for their active participation. Additionally, once the collected books are fully sorted and arranged, a formal flag-off programme is likely to be organized to officially launch the distribution of books under the Book Nest Initiative.
