Certificate Courses in ‘Gems and Jewellery’ Sector to Build Skilled Workforce – Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis

Inauguration of Gems and Jewellery Exhibition

Mumbai, Sept 2025 : The Gems and Jewellery sector offers immense employment opportunities, and India has the potential to lead the world in this field. To support this, the state government will soon launch a certificate course under the State Skill University to create a skilled workforce in the Gems and Jewellery industry. This initiative will ensure sustained progress in the sector, said Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, while inaugurating the Gems and Jewellery Exhibition at the Jio World Convention Centre.

The exhibition was inaugurated by CM Fadnavis, who also visited its various pavilions. The event was attended by Minister of State for Home (Rural) Dr. Pankaj Bhoyar, MLA Chitra Wagh, Gems and Jewellery Association National President Rajesh Rokde, Vice President Avinash Gupta, and several dignitaries.

CM Fadnavis highlighted that an ultra-modern Gems and Jewellery Park is coming up at Mahape in Navi Mumbai. Through this facility, the government will provide extensive support to businesses and exporters, boosting exports further. The government also intends to collaborate with the Gems and Jewellery Association to make the industry more employment-oriented.

He noted that Indian jewellery has a rich history and is exported to many countries across the globe. India already holds a leading position in the global market, and the government will align its policies to ensure that this lead is maintained.

The Chief Minister also emphasized the government’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment in Maharashtra. Major reforms are being introduced to simplify licensing procedures, land acquisition processes, and strengthening of existing industries, all with reduced timelines. A dedicated “Ease of Doing Business War Room” has been established in Mantralaya to monitor the progress of reform projects and ensure their effective implementation.

“The organization of this exhibition will certainly help Indian jewellery gain further recognition at the international level. At the same time, new research in this field is essential,” CM Fadnavis added.

On the occasion, Minister of State Dr. Pankaj Bhoyar, MLA Chitra Wagh, and Association President Rajesh Rokde also shared their views. The program witnessed the participation of a large number of professionals and traders from the Gems and Jewellery sector.
