Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Sept 2025 – Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today assured that the government will work tirelessly for the all-round progress of Marathwada, focusing on industries and job creation, agriculture, and infrastructure development. He was speaking at the Marathwada Liberation Day program.

On the occasion of Marathwada Liberation Day, Chief Minister Fadnavis hoisted the national flag at the Marathwada Liberation Memorial located in Siddharth Garden, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar Municipal Corporation premises.

At the outset, CM Fadnavis paid homage by offering a floral wreath at the memorial. This was followed by a guard of honor and flag hoisting ceremony.

The event was attended by Social Justice Minister and District Guardian Minister Sanjay Shirsat, Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Bhagwat Karad, MPs Dr. Kalyan Kale and Sandipan Bhumre, MLAs Satish Chavan, Prashant Bamb, Pradeep Jaiswal, Vilas Bhumre, MLA Sanjana Jadhav, former Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Ambadas Danve, former MP Chandrakant Khaire, Divisional Commissioner Jitendra Papalkar, Municipal Commissioner G. Srikanth, Police Commissioner Pravin Pawar, District Collector Dilip Swami, and others.

CM Fadnavis said that to free Marathwada from the tyrannical rule of the Nizam, a great struggle was waged. Leaders like Swami Ramanand Teerth, Govindbhai Shroff, Digambarrao Bindu, Ravinarayan Reddy, Devisingh Chavan, Bhausaheb Vaishampayan, Shankarsing Naik, Vijendra Kabra, Balasaheb Paranjape, Kashinath Kulkarni, Dagdabai Shelke, Vitthalrao Katkar, Harishchandra Jadhav, Janardhan Horatiker Guruji, Suryabhan Pawar, Vinayakrao Charthankar, and many others took initiative. Along with them, countless citizens fought against Razakar atrocities. After India’s independence, the battle lasted nearly 13 months and led to Marathwada’s liberation. “Therefore, this day is not just Marathwada Liberation Day but also a day symbolizing the creation of a united India. It is our duty to continue efforts for Marathwada’s all-round development while honoring these great leaders,” the CM said.

Relief for Rain-Affected Families
Acknowledging the loss due to heavy rains in Marathwada, CM Fadnavis paid homage to those who lost their lives and assured immediate relief on behalf of the state government. He said the government will firmly support affected farmers and villagers.

He added that efforts are underway to permanently overcome Marathwada’s drought. Water from the Krishna basin has been brought to the region, and in the second phase, floodwaters from Sangli and Kolhapur will be diverted to Ujani and further to Marathwada. Additionally, 54 TMC of water from the Ulhas basin will be supplied, and the deficit in the Godavari basin will be addressed. The DPR will be ready by December, and the tendering process will be initiated by January-February, he informed.

Implementation of Cabinet Decisions of 2023
CM Fadnavis said that the decisions taken at the 2023 cabinet meeting held in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar are being swiftly implemented.

Key initiatives include:

  • ₹61 crore granted to Ghrishneshwar temple and ₹541 crore provision for Tuljabhavani temple.
  • Approval of Aundha Nagnath temple plan.
  • 94 buses under Human Development Program; 115 buses for Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.
  • Launch of 916 anganwadis.
  • Formation of 26,500 new self-help groups with 2.7 lakh women members.
  • Distribution of ₹95 crore under Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Model School Scheme.
  • ₹253 crore allocated for various memorials and temples.
  • Road projects worth ₹3,121 crore underway.
  • Hybrid annuity works worth ₹7,719 crore launched.
  • 70% completion of Beed Zilla Parishad building.
  • Out of 4 lakh irrigation wells, 30,000 completed and 1.14 lakh under construction.

He also mentioned a ₹2,700 crore drinking water project for Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, with the municipal share of ₹800 crore sanctioned. Thanks to the Samruddhi Mahamarg and DMIC, the city has become a major investment hub, attracting companies like Hyundai. Sambhajinagar is emerging as the electric vehicle capital of India.

The Latur Coach Factory is in its final stage and will provide jobs to about 14,000 people. The ongoing Ahilyanagar–Beed railway line project is also significant.

Concluding, CM Fadnavis assured that under PM Narendra Modi’s leadership, the MahaYuti government will continue to work for Marathwada’s development with the guidance and blessings of the people.

On this occasion, CM Fadnavis also met freedom fighters present at the venue and extended greetings for Marathwada Liberation Day. Families of freedom fighters, citizens, and officials from various departments attended the program.
