Launch of ‘Seva Fortnight’ and ‘Chief Minister Samruddh Panchayati Raj Campaign’ in Thane District by the Deputy Chief Minister
Thane, Sept 2025 : To strengthen rural development and the Panchayati Raj system, provide citizens direct access to government services, spread awareness on health and nutrition, and ensure cleanliness and public participation, the district-level launch of various ambitious schemes of the state and central governments was held today at Gram Panchayat Khoni–Vadvali Bu, Panchayat Samiti Kalyan, in Thane district.
The programme was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister and Guardian Minister of Thane district, Eknath Shinde. On this occasion, he also launched the ‘Seva Fortnight’ initiative and distributed benefits of various schemes to beneficiaries.
Deputy CM Shinde said that, on the occasion of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday today, several campaigns have been launched across the country. A special initiative, Empowered Women – Empowered Families, has been started for women. He said India is on the path of development, striving to bring pride and recognition to the nation. As part of this effort, the Chief Minister Samruddh Panchayati Raj Campaign will be implemented in 431 Gram Panchayats. “If rural areas are strong, the district will be strong,” he said, calling today’s launch a proud beginning.
He stressed that this citizen-centric and welfare-oriented campaign, launched to mark the Prime Minister’s birthday, will work to make villages prosperous with roads, electricity, water, and schools. Khoni village, he said, is already on its path to becoming prosperous.
Shinde assured that the Chief Minister Ladki Bahin Yojana will continue and further steps will be taken to empower women. Under this campaign, women’s health check-ups will be conducted, including screening for cancer to ensure early treatment. He appealed to villagers to actively participate in government schemes under the campaign to create prosperous villages. Employment opportunities will also be made available locally through integration of government services.
He expressed pride that Thane Zilla Parishad secured first place in the state in the 100 Days Action Programme Competition. He called upon farmers, villagers, and women to actively support and successfully implement the Samruddh Panchayati Raj Campaign, ensuring Thane becomes a leading district in Maharashtra. He also conveyed Prime Minister Modi’s message of using indigenous products to make India self-reliant. Shinde appealed to villagers to enrich their villages first and contribute towards realizing the dream of a developed India by 2047.
District Collector Dr. Shrikrishna Panchal said that under Seva Fortnight, people-centric initiatives like constructing rural roads, sand distribution, housing, issuance of land records, facilitation centres, and Aaple Sarkar Seva Kendras will be implemented to deliver services effectively to citizens.
The event began with garlanding the portraits of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, followed by the lighting of the lamp. Zilla Parishad CEO Rohan Ghughe, in his welcome address, said that alongside the Samruddh Panchayati Raj Campaign, the Empowered Women – Empowered Families campaign will also be carried out, with health check-ups for women by medical experts. Additionally, 1,54,300 trees will be planted in the district. Special Gram Sabhas were also held in all Gram Panchayats.
The event also featured the district-level online launch of the Samruddh Panchayati Raj Campaign and unveiling of its information booklet, as well as the Green Maharashtra, Prosperous Maharashtra campaign. Distribution programmes included: Khoni Gram Panchayat’s disability fund, Ayushman cards, baby care kits to pregnant women under the Nutrition Maha Abhiyan, sanitation kits to cleanliness workers under Swachhata Hi Seva, housing certificates, certificates for encroachment-free rural roads, benefits of Sanjay Gandhi and Shravan Bal schemes, ration cards, and various certificates.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis addressed villagers of Khoni via live broadcast. Parag Bhosle, Extension Officer, Panchayat Samiti Kalyan, guided participants in detail on preparations required for Gram Panchayat-level competitions under the campaign.
The event was attended by MP Dr. Shrikant Shinde, MLA Naresh Mhaske, MLA Niranjan Davkhare, Dnyaneshwar Mhatre, MLA Balaji Kinikar, MLA Sulabha Ganpat Gaikwad, Rajesh More, Konkan Divisional Commissioner Dr. Vijay Suryawanshi, Sub-Divisional Officer Vijayanand Sharma, Amit Sanap, Jyoti Kamble-Patil, Deputy CEOs Pramod Kale and Avinash Fadtare, Chief Accounts and Finance Officer Vaijnath Burudkar, WCD Head Sanjay Bagul, Group Development Officer Sanjay Bhoye, Tehsildar Sachin Shejal, Abhijit Deshmukh, Abhijit Khole, Parmeshwar Kasule, former corporator Mahesh Patil, Khoni village Sarpanch Hanumant Thombre, and Gram Vikas Officer Dilip Jagre, along with a large number of women from self-help groups, villagers, officers, and employees.
Deputy CEO (Gram Panchayat) Pramod Kale delivered the vote of thanks. The programme witnessed the participation of MPs, MLAs, revenue and Zilla Parishad officials, employees, and villagers from all rural parts of Thane district.
