Panvel Journalists to Unite Under One Roof

Sept 2025 : In light of the recent surge of bogus journalists in Panvel taluka and the resulting misunderstandings about journalism in government, political, and educational spheres, several senior as well as budding journalists from the region expressed the need for corrective measures. To work toward uniting journalists across Panvel taluka, a seminar was organized on Friday, September 19, 2025, at 10 a.m. at the Government Rest House in Panvel. The aim was to exchange views, suggest solutions, and initiate collective action.
More than 50 journalists from across the taluka gathered under one roof for this discussion, engaging in dialogue about the importance of unity in the field of journalism.
The seminar began with a tribute to the late journalist Kiran Batham. Participants also strongly condemned the attack on Saam TV journalist Vikas Mirgane by the Mumbai Police. Senior journalists including Madhavrao Patil, Vijay Kadu, Nilesh Sonawane, Sanjay Kadam, Syed Akbar, and Vivek Patil guided the discussions on various issues.
A unanimous decision was taken to follow up with Union Civil Aviation Minister Murlidhar Mohol and MP Shrirang Barne to demand that the Navi Mumbai International Airport be named after Loknete D. B. Patil. Discussions were also held on the present state of journalism. Another key resolution was to establish a new registered association to bring all Panvel journalists under one umbrella in the near future.
Among those present were senior journalists Madhav Patil, Vijay Kadu, Nilesh Sonawane, Syed Akbar, Sanjay Kadam, Vivek Patil, along with journalists Keval Mahadik, Raj Bhandari, Haresh Sathe, Kshitij Kadu, Subhash Waghpanje, Shankar Vaydande, Nitin Joshi, Anil Kurghode, Ravindra Gaikwad, Deepak Gharat, Shailesh Chavan, Sunil Patil, Ganpat Wargada, Lalchand Yadav, Gaurav Jahangirdar, Sabir Sheikh, Ashish Sable, Sunil Wargada, Vishal Sawant, Chandrakant Shirke, Ram Borile, Annasaheb Aher, Sanip Kalote, Asim Sheikh, and women journalists Rupali Shinde and Dipali Paraskar, among others.
