Honorarium of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya Teachers to be Paid Before Diwali – Minister of State for School Education Dr. Pankaj Bhoyar

Mumbai, Sept 2025 : The Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) scheme is being implemented in the state under the Central Government’s Samagra Shiksha and Human Development Program. The honorarium of KGBV teachers is disbursed through the Planning Department. Minister of State for School Education, Dr. Pankaj Bhoyar, has directed that this honorarium be paid before Diwali. He also instructed that schools under the state government’s Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya scheme should be developed as model institutions.

A meeting regarding the issues of teachers working under the KGBV scheme was held at Mantralaya under the chairmanship of Dr. Pankaj Bhoyar. MLA Manisha Kayande, State Project Director of Samagra Shiksha Sanjay Yadav, Deputy Secretary of the School Education Department Tushar Mahajan, Deputy Director Rajesh Kankal, and Deputy Secretary of the Planning Department Manisha Rane were present.

Dr. Bhoyar stated that the honorarium of teachers working in schools under the Central Samagra Shiksha scheme and those under the state government’s KGBV scheme should be equalized, and the existing disparity should be removed. A proposal to this effect should be submitted to the Finance Department. He further said that the KGBVs operating under the Samagra Shiksha and Human Development Program should come under unified administrative control. A proposal should also be sent to the Central Government for inclusion of schools under the state scheme into the Samagra Shiksha framework.

Since both schemes involve residential schools, the Minister emphasized that facilities related to food and accommodation for girl students should be of high quality. He also stressed that safety of students in these residential schools must be given top priority.
