Inauguration of Karanje Power Substation by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar

New substation to provide daytime electricity to 1,418 agricultural consumers

Baramati, Sept 2025 : Under the Agriculture Policy 2020, a new 33/11 KV, 10 MVA capacity substation at Karanje was inaugurated at the hands of Deputy Chief Minister and District Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar. With this substation, 2,739 consumers in 12 villages and hamlets in the area will receive uninterrupted and quality power supply. Among them, 1,418 agricultural consumers will now get electricity supply during the daytime.

Present on the occasion were MSEDCL’s Chief Engineer Dharmaraj Pethkar, Sub-Divisional Officer Vaibhav Navadkar, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Dr. Sudarshan Rathod, Tehsildar Ganesh Shinde, Group Development Officer Kishor Mane, Superintendent Engineer Deepak Lahamge, In-charge Executive Engineer Sachin Korde, Executive Engineer (Civil) Vijendra Mule, Pune District Central Bank Director Shambhaji Holkar, Someshwar Cooperative Sugar Factory Chairman Purushottam Jagtap, and Karanje village Sarpanch Bhausaheb Humbare, along with several dignitaries from various fields.

MSEDCL has been focusing on strengthening the power infrastructure network through various schemes. From the Agriculture Contingency Fund, ₹6.65 crore was spent to set up the new Karanje substation. Two 5 MVA power transformers have been installed, along with an 18 km high-voltage (33 KV and 11 KV) transmission line. This includes three agricultural feeders—Shendkarwadi, Magarwadi, Malwadi—and two village feeders—Somayya and Karanjepul. Previously, the area load was distributed between the Nimbut, Vadgaon, Murum, and Murti substations.

Now, with the new Karanje substation, consumers in Shendkarwadi, Gaikwad Mala, Sorte Wadi, Karanje, Chaudhary Wadi, Malwadi, Bhapkar Mala, Karanjepul, Dagdevasti, Magarwadi, Naikwadi, and Shivbaba Mandir areas will get uninterrupted, quality power. This includes 1,108 domestic, 195 commercial, 18 industrial, and 1,418 agricultural consumers, totalling 2,739 beneficiaries.

Inauguration of Karanjepul Gram Panchayat Building

Before this program, Mr. Pawar also inaugurated the new Karanjepul Gram Panchayat building. Constructed at a cost of ₹22 lakh, the building includes a Gram Secretariat, meeting hall, and sanitation facilities. Present at the inauguration were Group Development Officer Kishor Mane, Pune District Central Bank Director Shambhaji Holkar, Someshwar Cooperative Sugar Factory Chairman Purushottam Jagtap, Sarpanch Pooja Gaikwad, Deputy Sarpanch, members, Gram Panchayat Officer Sachin Limberkar, along with dignitaries from various fields.
