World Leaders Welcome Trump’s Peace Plan to End Gaza Conflict and Secure Hostage Release
London, Sept 2025 : Several world leaders have voiced support for US President Donald Trump’s newly unveiled 20-point peace plan aimed at ending the Gaza conflict, securing the release of hostages, and providing urgent humanitarian relief to civilians. The plan was formally announced during Trump’s meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Monday (Washington time).
Global Support for the US Initiative
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer was among the first to welcome the announcement. Calling the plan a potential breakthrough, he urged both sides to embrace it:
“We call on all sides to come together and to work with the US Administration to finalise this agreement and bring it into reality. Hamas should now agree to the plan and end the misery by laying down their arms and releasing all remaining hostages,” he said.
Starmer emphasized that the United Kingdom, along with international partners, would continue to push for a permanent ceasefire, adding: “We are committed to a collective effort to end the war in Gaza and deliver a sustainable peace, where Palestinians and Israelis can live side by side in safety and security.”
French President Emmanuel Macron also expressed hope that Israel would engage constructively with the peace initiative. He stressed that Hamas must release all hostages without delay and respect the framework of the plan.
On social media platform X, Macron wrote: “These elements must pave the way for in-depth discussions with all relevant partners to build a lasting peace in the region, based on the two-state solution and on principles endorsed by 142 UN member states, at the initiative of France and Saudi Arabia. France stands ready to contribute and will remain vigilant regarding the commitments of each party.”
Regional Reactions and Broader Endorsements
Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese affirmed the plan’s focus on excluding Hamas from Gaza’s future governance and underscored Canberra’s backing for Palestinian self-determination.
“We commend the plan’s focus on Palestinian statehood and the Palestinian Authority resuming effective control of Gaza. President Trump’s plan reflects a clear rejection of annexation and forced displacement of Palestinians,” Albanese said.
In addition, a joint statement was issued by the Foreign Ministers of Qatar, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Egypt, all of whom welcomed Washington’s efforts.
The ministers noted: “We affirm our readiness to engage positively and constructively with the United States and the parties toward finalising the agreement and ensuring its implementation, in a manner that ensures peace, security, and stability for the peoples of the region.”
Toward a Path of Peace
The proposed plan highlights a comprehensive ceasefire, humanitarian assistance for Gaza, and a political roadmap for a two-state solution. By rejecting both annexation and forced displacement, it seeks to create conditions where Palestinians and Israelis can live in peace, security, and mutual recognition.
With endorsements from Europe, Australia, and key Middle Eastern nations, Trump’s plan has generated cautious optimism on the global stage. The coming weeks will reveal whether the parties directly involved—particularly Israel and Hamas—are willing to take the difficult steps required to transform the initiative into a lasting peace.
