Industrial Development Minister highlights strong investor interest in UP due to enhanced law and order in Yogi govt in House
Lucknow : As many as 3984 projects worth Rs 1.14 lakh have begun commercial operations in Uttar Pradesh within five months of GBC 4.0, revealed Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Nandi on Thursday. Nandi made the statement while addressing questions from opposition members in the state assembly.
Highlighting the Yogi government’s commitment to driving investments in the state, the Industrial Development Minister stated that during the GBC 4.0, steps were taken to secure investments totaling Rs 10.81 lakh crore across 14,701 projects, which are expected to generate employment for over 34 lakh people. To date, 3,984 projects have begun commercial operations, amounting to an investment of Rs 1,14,345 crore, he added.
He emphasized that investment is an ongoing process and attributed the surge in investor interest to improvements in law and order under CM Yogi Adityanath’s leadership. He said that both domestic and international investors are now keen to establish their industries in Uttar Pradesh.

Samsung unit has not left UP: Suresh Khanna
In response to questions about Samsung’s unit moving from Uttar Pradesh to Karnataka and the state’s industrial growth rate, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Khanna clarified that Uttar Pradesh’s industrial growth rate is 22.09, as reported by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, reflecting the state’s strong financial progress.
Regarding Samsung’s industry, Khanna lamented ‘lack of accurate information’. He remarked: “When companies invest, resolutions are set among their directors. The Samsung mobile display unit established in UP is still operational and producing on a large scale. All commitments made with the company are being honored, and any GST issues have been resolved. The company has not left Uttar Pradesh, while decisions about investment and expansion are based on their business needs.”
3.5 lakh kilos of banned single-use plastic destroyed in 6 months
In response to a question about banned single-use plastic, Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Nandi informed that 3.5 lakh kilograms of single-use plastic have been destroyed across the state in the past six months. Additionally, fines totaling Rs 2.27 crore have been imposed on those involved in the production and sale of banned plastic.
Nandi stated that the state government has enforced a complete ban on single-use plastic. Currently, there are no industrial units in the state engaged in the production or sale of banned plastic. The Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board and district administration officials are continuously conducting raids. He also assured that if any member provides detailed information about such units, strict action will be taken as per the regulations.
