Chhattisgarh State Election Commission Receives International Award for Outstanding Management of Local Body Elections 2025
Raipur, Oct 2025 : The Chhattisgarh State Election Commission (SEC) has been honored internationally for the excellent management of the 2025 local body elections. The award was presented by the International Centre for Parliamentary Studies (ICPS), a research institute under the United Nations Public Administration Network (UNPAN).

The Commission had submitted a proposal highlighting the efficient and effective conduct of the local body elections 2025 under the guidance of Hon’ble State Election Commissioner Mr. Ajay Singh. Accepting the proposal, ICPS recognized the Commission’s work in election management and selected it for the award based on its presentation at a conference held in Gaborone, Botswana.
The ICPS office is located at Millbank Tower, London, UK and is affiliated with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). The institute conducts research on democratic systems and provides guidance to governments worldwide for strengthening democratic governance.
The Chhattisgarh SEC reported that the award, Special Recognition for Outstanding Achievement, was given for successfully conducting both municipal and panchayat elections within just 36 days, an accomplishment recognized as a significant feat in election management. The award ceremony took place from October 1 to 4, 2025 in Gaborone, Botswana. Representing the Commission at the conference were Shri Sukhnath Ahirwar, Secretary, and Shri Alok Kumar Srivastava, Deputy Secretary.
