Education is the Only Path to Social Progress: CM Vishnu Dev Sai

Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Dev Sai attended the Kanwar Community Conference and the martyrdom anniversary of Veer Shaheed Sitaram Kanwar in Katghora, Korba district.

Addressing the gathering, CM Sai emphasized that education is the sole path for the progress and advancement of society. He stated that the government is continuously working to strengthen both school and higher education. “Our vision is to see youth from Chhattisgarh’s Scheduled Tribes become collectors, SPs, doctors, and engineers,” he added.

The Chief Minister said that Veer Shaheed Sitaram Kanwar is the pride of the Kanwar community. On the occasion, he unveiled a statue of Shaheed Sitaram Kanwar at Rampur Chowk, commemorating the freedom struggle of 1857. Community representatives welcomed him with bows and arrows, while students who excelled in board exams were honored.

CM Sai announced financial support of ₹1 crore for the construction of a Kanwar Community Social Hall, including the construction of a boundary wall. He also sanctioned ₹10 lakh for the installation of a new statue of Shaheed Sitaram Kanwar at Rampur Chowk, ₹25 lakh for the installation of a Lord Sahastrabahu statue and entrance gate at Kasnia Mod, and approved the construction of a hi-tech bus stand in Katghora.

He also performed the groundbreaking and foundation stone laying ceremony for the Lord Sahastrabahu Chowk, the statue installation, cultural welcome gate, and garden development at Kasnia Mod.

CM Sai urged community members to educate their children, keep youth away from drugs, and fully utilize government welfare schemes. He highlighted the state’s excellent higher education institutions, including Medical Colleges, AIIMS, IIIT, Universities, and Law Colleges, and extended greetings for the Silver Jubilee celebrations of Chhattisgarh’s formation.

He further emphasized that the government is swiftly fulfilling promises made by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to the people of Chhattisgarh. Since the formation of the government:

  • 18 lakh houses have been approved under the Prime Minister Housing Scheme.
  • Farmers are being paid ₹3,100 per quintal for 21 quintals of paddy per acre.
  • 70 lakh women are receiving ₹1,000 per month under the Mahatari Vandan scheme.
  • Tendu leaf collectors are being paid ₹5,500 per standard bag.
  • The Charan Paduka scheme has been restarted.

Under the Shri Ramlalla Darshan Yojana, thousands of pilgrims from the state are sent to Ayodhya monthly at government expense. CM Sai highlighted that within just 20 months of government formation, over 10,000 youth have been provided government jobs, with recruitment of 5,000 teachers and 700 assistant professors planned soon. The new industrial policy is being made employment-focused to create new opportunities for youth.

The event was attended by MLAs Premchand Patel and Tuleshwar Heera Singh Markam, Zilla Panchayat President Dr. Pawan Singh Kanwar, Mayor Sanju Devi Rajput, Kanwar Community Central President Chhatrapal Singh Kanwar, along with numerous public representatives and members of the Kanwar community.
