World-Class Convention Centre to Be Built in Nagpur – Chief Minister Devendra FadnavisMoU Signed with Spain’s Fira Barcelona International Company
Mumbai, Oct 2025 : A world-class convention centre equipped with state-of-the-art facilities will soon be constructed in Nagpur. In this regard, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed today at Varsha, the official residence of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, in the presence of representatives from Spain’s Fira Barcelona International Company.
Chief Minister Fadnavis directed that the site selected for the proposed convention centre in Nagpur must be well-connected with all modes of transport to ensure easy accessibility.
The event was attended by Spain’s Ambassador to India, Juan Antonio; CEO of Fira Barcelona International, Ricard Zapatero; Additional Chief Secretary (Transport) Sanjay Sethi; Pioneer Exhibition and Convention Pvt. Ltd. Chairman Mukesh Arora and Vice-Chairman Jeet Arora; and Nagpur District Collector Vipin Itankar.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Fadnavis said the upcoming convention centre in Nagpur should not be limited to exhibitions and formal events alone, but must also serve as a vibrant platform for cultural activities. He added that the centre’s design and interiors should reflect Nagpur’s rich history, allowing every visitor to experience the city’s cultural essence.
“The convention centre should stand as an architectural landmark — aesthetically appealing, technologically advanced, and environmentally sustainable,” Fadnavis emphasized.
Spain’s Ambassador, Juan Antonio, lauded the growing ties between India and Spain, noting that the strong relationship between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has further deepened bilateral cooperation. He praised India’s progress in using artificial intelligence and modern technologies to bring positive changes in people’s lives, saying that the world is taking note of India’s achievements.
He also highlighted Mumbai’s emerging status, calling it not only the powerhouse of India but of the entire South Asian region. “Spain looks forward to working closely with Maharashtra, whose capital Mumbai continues to drive innovation and development,” he remarked.
A presentation on the proposed project was given by Fira Barcelona International’s CEO, Ricard Zapatero. The MoU exchange ceremony between the Nagpur District Administration and Fira Barcelona International marked a significant step toward realizing the vision of a global-standard convention centre in Nagpur.
