Govt Urges Domestic Airlines to Prioritize Safety, Passenger Convenience Ahead of Festival Season
New Delhi, Oct 2025 : The government on Friday directed domestic airlines to strictly follow safety protocols and encouraged them to adopt best practices in passenger convenience and service quality.
Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu chaired the monthly review meeting with domestic carriers to assess operational and technical performance, with a particular focus on safety and passenger facilitation. Airlines including Air India, Air India Express, IndiGo, Akasa Air, Alliance Air, Fly91, FlyBig, and IndiaOne Air participated, presenting their performance metrics and reports on security incidents and passenger grievances.
The meeting involved detailed discussions on safety oversight, fleet management, and passenger-centric initiatives. Naidu emphasized identifying operational bottlenecks and addressing challenges to enhance efficiency. He also stressed that airfares should remain reasonable, especially during the upcoming festival season, and instructed the DGCA’s Tariff Monitoring Unit to maintain strict vigilance to ensure compliance with declared fare ranges.
Airlines assured that passenger convenience remains their top priority, reporting that additional flight capacities have been deployed on high-traffic routes to meet festive demand. The minister also reviewed grievance redressal mechanisms, directing airlines to resolve passenger complaints promptly and effectively. The Ministry’s upgraded AirSewa portal now allows passengers to register complaints related to high airfares, further strengthening consumer protection.
Naidu encouraged airlines to embed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Swachhta in their operations, practices, and service delivery. He lauded the carriers for their collective efforts in making Indian aviation more sustainable through the adoption of advanced technologies and environmentally responsible practices.
The review highlights the government’s commitment to ensuring safe, affordable, and passenger-friendly air travel, particularly during peak travel periods, while promoting operational excellence and environmental responsibility across India’s aviation sector.
