Serchhip, Oct 2025: The Police Commemoration Day 2025 was observed today at the Serchhip Superintendent of Police (SP) Office compound, led by Serchhip SP Pu Gavit Gogna, in honor of police personnel who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
Speaking on the occasion, SP Gavit Gogna stated that the Government of India observes this day every year to remember and honor those police personnel who laid down their lives while performing their duties. He paid heartfelt tribute and respect to the martyrs, highlighting the courage and sacrifice of Constable Biakrotluanga of Serchhip Venglai, 2nd IR Battalion, who lost his life on November 29, 2007, during a Naxalite ambush in Chhattisgarh State. He said Biakrotluanga’s service and supreme sacrifice will always be remembered by the people of Serchhip and the state.
From September 1, 2024, to August 31, 2025, a total of 191 personnel from the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and State Armed Police Forces (SAPF) across India lost their lives in the line of duty. However, during this period, no casualties were reported from Mizoram.
During the observance, Additional SP Pu H. Lalduata read out the citation of Late Constable No. C/122 Biakrotluanga of the 2nd IR Battalion. He recalled that on November 29, 2007, while performing duties to protect civilians from a Naxalite attack in Konta area of Chhattisgarh, Biakrotluanga and his E-Coy Headquarters team were ambushed when Naxalites detonated a series of bombs. The explosion destroyed their vehicle, resulting in the death of all personnel on board.
The solemn ceremony at Serchhip was attended by Serchhip Police personnel, family members of Late Constable Biakrotluanga, and local citizens, who all paid floral tributes to the martyrs.
The event concluded with a two-minute silence in memory of the fallen heroes and reaffirmation of the police force’s commitment to serve the nation with courage and dedication.
