75th YMA General Conference held at Sakawrdai

Sakawrdai, Oct 2025 : The 75th General Conference (Inkhawmpui) of the Young Mizo Association (YMA) continued into its second evening with the Vantlang Inkhawm held at Chengkawlawn Ground, Sakawrdai. The event was graced by Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma, who attended as the Chief Guest.

In his address, the Chief Minister extended greetings to all delegates and appreciated the organizers for the successful conduct of the conference. He praised YMA for being a people’s organization that has consistently worked for the welfare, unity, and moral strength of the Mizo community. “Whenever our land faces difficulties, YMA rises to the occasion. It has always been the guiding light for social harmony and collective progress among the Mizo people,” he said.

The Chief Minister further highlighted several key initiatives and collaborative efforts between the Government and YMA:

  1. Global Mizo Outreach: The Government has been taking strong steps to connect with Mizos across the world. A Mizo Diaspora Cell has been established, and a Mizo Diaspora Hub Portal has been launched. “We are also assisting Mizos working abroad, including those in Singapore, in addressing their challenges,” the Chief Minister said.
  2. Support for Cultural Preservation: Acknowledging YMA’s significant efforts in preserving Mizo identity and traditions, the Chief Minister announced a ₹100 crore plan to establish a YMA Centre at Thingsulthliah.
  3. Joint Initiatives: He said the Government has newly formed a Sorkar–YMA Joint Task Force, and projects such as a Short Stay Centre at Hulhhlia and Operation Jericho are being implemented jointly. More cooperative projects between YMA and the Government are in the pipeline, he added.
  4. Appeal to YMA Members: The Chief Minister urged all YMA members to refrain from harmful habits like excessive drinking and to protect family values. “Avoid anything that may disrupt your home or community harmony,” he appealed.
  5. Law and Order: Referring to a report from the Security Coordination Committee, he said the number of assault and violence cases in the state remains high. “As a disciplined and peace-loving people, let us combat alcoholism and violence from our society,” he said.
  6. Language and Culture: He lamented that Mizos today often undervalue their own language and culture in the internet age. “Our youth and artists should take pride in using our language. Let us promote our own identity even in the digital world,” he added.
  7. Inner Line Permit (ILP): The Chief Minister said the Government is reviewing measures to make ILP enforcement more effective. “Those without ILP must not be allowed to stay. Enforcement will be strengthened,” he asserted.
  8. Leadership and Cooperation: He noted that a new YMA leadership team has been elected and assured that the Government will continue to cooperate fully with the new office-bearers in their work for society.

The Vantlang Inkhawm session was presided over by Pu Lalhmachhuana, President of Central YMA.
