Israeli Airstrikes Hit Gaza Cities and Schools, 20 People Killed
The Israeli military has intensified its airstrikes in Gaza, targeting two major cities early on Sunday. In Deir al-Balah, a central Gaza city, an airstrike hit a tent camp near Al Aqsa Hospital, killing four Palestinians and injuring many others.
In a separate attack in Sheikh Rajwan, northern Gaza, the Hamama school was struck, resulting in 16 deaths and 21 injuries. The airstrike caused significant damage to the school, leaving it in ruins. Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos and panic as people fled for safety.
Rami Dhabish, a civilian security worker, reported that after the initial attack, the area was struck again, increasing the death toll. Meanwhile, Israel’s Civil Defense has warned that it is running low on fuel, which may soon halt ambulance and fire engine services. Since October 7, Israeli attacks in Gaza have resulted in about 40,000 Palestinian deaths, with many more left homeless amid a severe humanitarian crisis.
The conflict has escalated with Israel fighting on multiple fronts, including with Hamas in Gaza, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and the Houthis in Yemen. Tensions have further increased following the death of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, where his presence at an event led to a bomb attack on his residence. This attack highlighted the ongoing and dangerous nature of the regional conflict.
