Bihar will never return to pre-2005 anarchy, says Nitish Kumar; Congress hits back at NDA over CM face
Patna, Oct 2025 : Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Sunday asserted that the state is witnessing “prosperity and good governance,” adding that the people of Bihar “will never return to the era of anarchy that existed before 2005.” In an Instagram post aimed at voters ahead of the upcoming assembly elections, the Janata Dal (United) chief reminded citizens of the grim situation under previous governments.
“You will surely remember the era before 2005, when crime and corruption were at their peak in Bihar. There was an atmosphere of anarchy everywhere—it had become difficult for people to step out of their homes,” Nitish said. “People were forced to live in fear, and being called a Bihari was considered an insult.”
Highlighting his government’s achievements since 2005, Nitish said his administration had prioritized the restoration of law and order and implemented a zero-tolerance policy toward crime and corruption. “When our government was formed, we focused on establishing the rule of law. Now, there is no atmosphere of fear or terror in the state. Instead, there is an environment of love, brotherhood, and peace,” he said.
The Chief Minister added that Bihar has transformed into a hub of industries and businesses, marking a shift from instability to progress. “The new Bihar is a Bihar of prosperity and development. There is good governance in Bihar. Being called a Bihari is now a matter of pride,” Nitish declared, expressing confidence that the people of the state will not allow a return to the lawlessness of the past.
Meanwhile, Congress leader Pawan Khera launched a scathing attack on the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), accusing it of lacking confidence and clarity ahead of the polls. “They (NDA) are afraid of defeat. We have declared our chief ministerial candidate, but they have not. They don’t even have the courage to say Nitish Kumar will be their CM candidate,” Khera said.
He alleged that despite Nitish’s claims, the state continues to face law and order challenges. “There is complete jungle raj in Bihar right now. Murders are taking place in Patna, women are being raped, kidnappings are happening daily. Who will take responsibility for this?” he asked.
The Bihar Assembly elections will be conducted in two phases on November 6 and 11, with the counting of votes scheduled for November 14.
