Agreement Signed with NTPC to Establish Archery Academy at Sanna Pandrapath in Jashpur District

Chhattisgarh’s Youth to Get New Opportunities in Archery – Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai

Raipur, Oct 2025 : An agreement was signed between the Jashpur District Administration and NTPC in the presence of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai today at the Chief Minister’s camp office in Bagicha for setting up an Archery Academy at Sanna Pandrapath in Bagicha block of Jashpur district.

The project, to be implemented under NTPC’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, will be developed at a cost of ₹20.53 crore. On this occasion, Collector Rohit Vyas and NTPC Additional General Manager (Human Resources) Bilash Mohanty were present.

Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai expressed his happiness over NTPC’s contribution of ₹20.53 crore for establishing the Archery Centre under CSR, calling it a significant step toward sports development in the region. He said that Jashpur’s youth have immense potential in archery, and the establishment of this centre will provide them with essential training and modern facilities.

The Chief Minister further said that India has submitted its bid to host the Olympic Games in 2036, and efforts will be made to ensure that a maximum number of players from Chhattisgarh are part of the national contingent and win medals for the state and the country. He added that such academies will play a vital role in identifying and nurturing sports talent at the grassroots level.

The Chief Minister also reiterated that the state government will award ₹3 crore to Olympic gold medal winners, ₹2 crore for silver medalists, and ₹1 crore for bronze medalists from Chhattisgarh.

He added that the State Sports Awards Ceremony has been reintroduced to honour talented players. New Khelo India training centres have also been launched, with a special focus on developing sports infrastructure in tribal regions.

Highlighting India’s ancient tradition of archery, the Chief Minister said that heroes from sacred epics like the Mahabharata and Ramayana excelled in this art. Continuing that legacy, the state aims to train a new generation of archers with modern techniques and professional guidance.

Notably, the Archery Academy will be built on 10.27 acres of land and will feature an outdoor archery range, hostel facilities for players, staff quarters, player amenities complex, shaded nursery for organic farming, library, medical centre, skill development centre, herbal plantation, and a training ground.
