Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma Visits Dawki Land Port
Aizawl, Oct 2025: Mizoram Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma on Wednesday visited the Dawki Land Port located in West Jaintia Hills District, Meghalaya, and held interactions with the officials working at the site.
The Dawki Land Port serves as a key point of trade and transit between India and Bangladesh, and also as a major center for people-to-people exchanges between the two neighboring countries.
Within the land port complex are several essential facilities, including an Integrated Check Post, Cargo Terminal, Warehouse Building, Weighbridge, Passenger Terminal Building, Canteen, Medical Facility, Foreign Exchange Counter, Duty-Free Shop, and Parking Area. The port was developed under the Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI) and was formally inaugurated in 2023.
During his visit, Chief Minister Lalduhoma was accompanied by several key officials, including Pu T.C. Chacko, Regional Administrator, Land Ports Authority of India; Pu P.S. Tombing, Chief Immigration Officer, ICP Dawki; Lalhmingmawia, IRS, Additional Commissioner, Customs; Eric C. Lallawmpuia, IRS, Joint Commissioner, Customs; N.V. Siam, Second-in-Command, 4th Battalion, BSF; and Anendya Rajshree, IAS, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM).
The Chief Minister was briefed on the port’s operations, cross-border trade processes, and passenger management systems, while officials also shared updates on infrastructure facilities and security arrangements in place to ensure smooth bilateral movement between India and Bangladesh.
