Agriculture Minister and Sports Minister Inaugurate the Newly Laid Artificial Turf at Chhuanthar Futsal Ground

Serchhip, Nov 2025: Agriculture Minister Pu PC Vanlalruata and Sports Minister Pu Lalnghingloa Hmar jointly graced the programme held to inaugurate the newly laid artificial turf at the Chhuanthar Futsal Ground, along with the reopening of the Vangpui Tualvawt Chhuanthar Futsal Complex.

Agriculture Minister Pu PC Vanlalruata, who is also the local MLA, expressed happiness at the inauguration of the new turf at the Futsal Ground. He said it was a joyful moment, and that, in order to successfully organize tournaments with full enthusiasm, efforts would soon be made to improve and upgrade football grounds as well. He further praised the discipline and unity of the people of Chhuanthar, stating, “Our commitment and cooperation are what the people of Mizoram have come to appreciate.” He encouraged the public to continue striving toward excellence, purity of spirit, avoidance of addictive substances, and to remain committed to contributing generously for the welfare of others.

Sports Minister Pu Lalnghingloa Hmar also delivered a speech, expressing gratitude that the Futsal Ground had now been re-laid with artificial turf. He explained the efforts taken to make this renovation possible and mentioned that local MLA Pu PC Vanlalruata had earlier assured him that the project would definitely be completed. He said that its successful completion this year clearly reflects the MLA’s sincerity and dedication. The Sports Minister also stated that discussions had been held with the MLA regarding further development of football infrastructure, and that during this term they are determined to jointly work toward establishing a fully developed playing ground.

Construction of the Chhuanthar Futsal Ground began on October 11, 2022. With public cooperation—including community service and monetary contributions—along with government assistance, the first tournament was held in October 2023. In 2024, during the Vangpui Festival, Chief Guest Pu PC Vanlalruata reaffirmed his commitment to install artificial turf, and the work has now been completed under the initiative of Sports Minister Pu Lalnghingloa Hmar.

At today’s programme, representatives including the President of Chhuanthar Sporting Club, Village Council leaders, and local volunteer groups delivered speeches. A documentary film highlighting the construction and development of the Chhuanthar Futsal Ground was also screened.
