Prashant Kishor Predicts Tejashwi Yadav’s Defeat, Mocks Grand Promises Ahead of Bihar Polls
Bhojpur, Nov 2025 : Jan Suraj Party (JSP) founder Prashant Kishor on Tuesday launched a sharp attack on Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav, questioning the credibility of his campaign promises and predicting his defeat in the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. Kishor, who was campaigning for his party’s candidates in Bhojpur, mocked the RJD leader for making what he described as unrealistic commitments to voters.
Speaking to ANI during his campaign trail, Kishor said, “Tejashwi Yadav should tell us what he plans to do after retirement. He is losing the election. He is saying anything and everything just to win votes.” The political strategist-turned-politician argued that Yadav’s reliance on what he termed ‘grand and populist announcements’ indicated desperation within the Grand Alliance camp.
The remarks came on a day when Tejashwi Yadav held a press conference, reiterating one of his key poll promises under the proposed ‘Maa Behan Maan Yojana’. On the last day of campaigning for the first phase of the elections, Yadav assured that, if voted to power, the Mahagathbandhan government would transfer ₹30,000 annually to the bank accounts of women across Bihar.
Yadav stated, “Many women are excited about the Maa Behan Maan Yojana, saying it will give them financial relief during this period of inflation. Our government will be formed on the strength of the demands of our mothers and sisters. Makar Sankranti is on January 14, and by then we will form the government. Under this scheme, ₹30,000 will be deposited into the accounts of women for the entire year.”
Expanding on the pledge, Yadav said women would receive ₹1.5 lakh over five years, ensuring sustained support during rising living costs. The scheme, he said, was an essential part of the Grand Alliance’s vision for women’s empowerment and economic relief.
Tejashwi Yadav also reiterated a series of benefits for Jeevika Didis, the members of women’s self-help groups functioning under the World Bank-supported Bihar Rural Livelihoods Project. His promises include ₹2,000 per month, ₹5 lakh insurance coverage, and a waiver of interest on loans taken by the SHG members. According to Yadav, these measures would significantly strengthen women-led micro-enterprise networks across the state.
The Grand Alliance’s manifesto — titled “Bihar ka Tejashwi Pran” and released on October 28 — outlines a broader set of welfare-oriented commitments. One of its major promises is enacting a law within 20 days of forming the government to guarantee a government job for at least one member of every family in the state. For government employees, the alliance has also promised that job postings would be restricted to within 70 km of their home cadre to reduce hardship.
While the RJD-led coalition continues to highlight its social welfare platform, Prashant Kishor has sought to position his Jan Suraj Party as a credible alternative for voters tired of traditional political players. JSP has fielded candidates in all 243 seats, making this the party’s most ambitious electoral attempt to date.
The 2025 Bihar Assembly elections are shaping up to be a multi-cornered contest. The primary battle is between the ruling NDA — consisting of the BJP, JD(U), HAM, and LJP (RV) — and the Grand Alliance, which includes the RJD, Congress, VIP, and Left parties. Kishor’s aggressive campaigning adds yet another layer of competition in several constituencies.
The state will vote in two phases, on November 6 and 11, with results scheduled to be declared on November 14. As the political environment heats up, both major coalitions are intensifying their outreach, while Kishor continues attacking what he calls the “old politics of empty promises.”
