Rahul Gandhi Accuses Modi Government of Distracting Youth With Reels, Neglecting Jobs and Education at Aurangabad Rally

Patna, Nov 2025 : In a blistering attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the NDA government, Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, on Tuesday accused the Centre of deliberately distracting the country’s youth with cheap data and short-video platforms instead of addressing critical issues like unemployment, education, and healthcare. Gandhi made the remarks while addressing a huge Mahagathbandhan rally in Aurangabad as Bihar gears up for the upcoming Assembly elections.

Opening his speech with a pointed reference to the Prime Minister’s recent comments on affordable internet access, Gandhi said, “Narendra Modi comes to Bihar and proudly says that data is so cheap that you can watch videos and make reels. I want to ask you—do you want to make reels or do you want a job?” He alleged that while the government celebrates cheap data, the economic benefits go to the Prime Minister’s “industrialist friends,” not to the youth creating content. “Whatever reels you make, the money goes into their pockets. The goal is to keep you occupied so that you do not raise real questions—unemployment, paper leaks, education, healthcare, universities,” he said.

Gandhi went on to compare the increasing consumption of short-form video content to a new form of addiction being encouraged by the government. “They are giving you a new kind of drug,” he said, warning that young people were being pushed into digital distractions while job opportunities continued to shrink.

Turning to the state of Bihar’s healthcare system, Gandhi made a scathing allegation: “Every day, two to three thousand people sleep on the pavements near AIIMS Delhi. When I ask them where they have come from, they say: Bihar. Patients go to hospitals in Bihar not for treatment, but to die.” The Congress leader said the mass migration of patients highlighted the failure of both the state and central governments to strengthen public healthcare.

Rahul Gandhi also targeted the Agnipath recruitment scheme, which he has repeatedly criticized in Parliament and on the campaign trail. He said the scheme had shut the door on lakhs of youth who had been preparing for years to join the Indian Armed Forces. “After four years, the Agniveers will be thrown out. And if they are killed, they will not even get the status of a martyr. Their families will get no help,” he said. Gandhi further alleged that public sector jobs—which, according to him, provided stable employment to Dalits, Mahadalits, Extremely Backward Classes, Backward Classes, and other marginalized communities—had dwindled due to privatization. “HAL, BHEL, Indian Oil—these institutions once offered jobs to youth across communities. But Modi privatized them and handed them over to his industrialist friends,” he asserted.

He also renewed his attack on the government over exam paper leaks, arguing that the education system has lost credibility. “You can study for years, but if the paper is leaked one day before the exam, everything becomes meaningless. And if you do not have connections or millions of rupees, you will not succeed,” Gandhi said, urging young voters to recognize the structural collapse in academic assessment.

Referring to Prime Minister Modi’s recent Chhath Puja appearance in Delhi, Gandhi accused him of staging a political drama. “He said he would bathe in the Yamuna, but a pipe of clean water was arranged. A special pond was built. When the video was leaked, he quietly backed down,” he claimed.

The Congress leader also blamed Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for failing to generate adequate employment in the state. “I travel everywhere—Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Arunachal Pradesh, even Ladakh—and I see youth from Bihar working as laborers. After ruling for 20 years, Nitish Kumar has turned the youth of Bihar into laborers,” he said. Gandhi contrasted this with Bihar’s historical legacy, invoking Nalanda University. “People from Japan, Korea, China, and England once came here to study. Today, our students are forced to go abroad—America, England, Japan, China, Korea, even Uzbekistan. This is Bihar’s heritage, but your government does not want to help you,” he added.

Gandhi also alleged that Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was no longer operating independently. “Nitish Kumar is not in control. The remote is in the hands of the Prime Minister. Whatever Modi wants, Nitish does,” he claimed. He said the Mahagathbandhan, if elected, would represent every community in Bihar—Dalits, minorities, extremely backward classes, OBCs, and the poor among the general category.

Escalating his attack, Gandhi accused the NDA of relying on unfair means to win elections. “Narendra Modi and Amit Shah know they cannot win in Bihar. Their only way is to steal votes. They stole Maharashtra, Haryana, and the Lok Sabha elections. Now they want to steal Bihar. But the people of Bihar understand that stealing votes is an attack on the Constitution drafted by B.R. Ambedkar,” he said. He warned that dismantling the Constitution would leave only “Modi and his industrialist friends” prospering.

Gandhi also questioned the Centre’s decision to waive large corporate loans. “Billions of rupees of industrialists’ loans have been waived. Have they waived the loans of Bihar’s farmers?” he asked.

Concluding his address, Gandhi made a major promise: “I guarantee that I will build a world-class university in Bihar, where students from across the world will come to study. This is my vision for Bihar.”
