Chief Secretary Directs PR Officers to Ensure Timely, Accurate, and Simple Communication to the Public
Jaipur, Nov 2025 : Chief Secretary Shri Sudhansh Pant said that the state government is undertaking historic work to strengthen the state’s infrastructure and ensure public welfare. In this context, the Information & Public Relations Department has immense opportunities for disseminating the government’s welfare schemes, policies, and achievements. He instructed public relations officers to work with ownership, adopting a proactive and aggressive approach in their respective districts and departments. He emphasized giving importance to content in news, noting that stories with a human angle resonate more with people. He also urged PR officers to actively participate in narrative-building and image-building efforts.
The Chief Secretary was addressing a review meeting on Thursday via video conference from the Secretariat. The meeting was organized to strengthen the outreach of government schemes and achievements under the Information & Public Relations Department. He stated that PR officers carry the major responsibility of not only covering programmes and activities but also building trust and credibility among the public.
PR Officers Should Act as Advisors
Shri Pant said officers should expand their scope of work and function as advisors to secretaries, collectors, and ministers in their departments and districts. He instructed them to verify incorrect news and issue fact-checks, rebuttals, and factual reports in a time-bound manner. He emphasized preparing news based on accurate and factual information to counter misinformation on all media platforms. He also directed them to develop effective media strategies to accelerate outreach efforts.
Increase Social Media Reach
Stating that the role of PR officers becomes even more crucial in the age of social media, he said their responsibility is essentially 24×7. Therefore, timely dissemination of correct information is essential to counter misleading or false news. He instructed officers to work with a targeted approach to expand the reach of social media platforms. He suggested making news content more effective by comparing facts, development works, and achievements with previous years to present stories in a comparative and positive context.
Effective Content
Calling the Information & Public Relations Department the “eyes, nose, and ears” of the government, the Chief Secretary instructed officers to firmly present the concerned department’s position against misleading or baseless negative news. He directed them to continuously collect photos, videos, achievements, and success stories to create a content bank for use on important occasions. He also said that government advertisements should include strong and meaningful content.
Earlier, Information & Public Relations Commissioner and Secretary Shri Sandesh Nayak presented a detailed overview of the department’s activities and outreach efforts.
The meeting was attended by senior officials of the department, while PR officers from all district information offices and those deputed to various departments joined via video conference.
