Udaipur Celebrates 150 Years of ‘Vande Mataram’ with Grand Lakefront Patriotic Festival

Jaipur, Nov 2025 : The City of Lakes, Udaipur, was immersed in patriotic colours on Friday. On the occasion of completing 150 years of the composition of the song Vande Mataram, a grand district-level celebration was held at the Fatehsagar Lake promenade under the chief guestship of District In-Charge and Revenue & Colonization Minister Shri Hemant Meena. With the lake’s waves echoing “Vande Mataram,” an enchanting atmosphere of patriotism was created. The spirit of national pride rose and swayed along with the waves.

The event began with a collective singing of the Vande Mataram song. Chief guest Minister Meena, MP Dr. Mannalal Rawat, Udaipur Rural MLA Phoolsingh Meena, Divisional Commissioner Pragya Kevlramani, UDA Commissioner Rahul Jain, Banshilal Khatik, Gajpalsingh Rathore, Pushkar Teli, Mithlesh Kumar, Chandragupt Singh Chauhan, Paras Singhvi and other dignitaries lit the ceremonial lamp. Additional District Collector (Administration) Deependrasinh Rathore, ADM City Jitendra Ojha, Badgaon SDM Latika Paliwal and Tourism Deputy Director Shikha Saxena welcomed the guests with traditional stoles. Students from various schools presented patriotic performances that captivated the audience. Throughout the performances, guests and spectators repeatedly raised the slogan “Vande Mataram.”

“Vande Mataram is the soul and voice of the nation”

Addressing the gathering, Minister Meena said that Vande Mataram united the nation during the freedom struggle. Today, the same spirit of nationalism is needed to make India a developed nation. He said the song remains the soul and voice of India even today.

Thrilling Water Sports Display

After the cultural performances, the guests inaugurated water sports activities. Canoeing and kayaking athletes showcased their skills, followed by a demonstration of dragon boating. A large number of people watched the thrilling activities from the lake promenade.

Patriotic Rally

The program began earlier with an NSS patriotic rally. Guided by District Sports Officer Dr. Mahesh Paliwal, the rally started from Kala Kiwad and proceeded to Taya Palace. Children raised slogans of “Vande Mataram” and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai,” filling the atmosphere with enthusiasm and energy.

Tribute to Martyrs

The event commenced with dignitaries, NSS and NCC volunteers, representatives of various institutions, and the general public paying homage to the martyrs.
