Nov 8: The Pakistan Navy ship PNS Saif (FFG-253) arrived at Chittagong Port on Saturday for a four-day goodwill visit to Bangladesh, marking a step toward rebuilding bilateral ties after decades of limited engagement.

The vessel was received by the Chief Staff Officer of the Commander Chittagong Naval Area on behalf of the Commander. A ceremonial performance by a well-decorated Bangladesh Navy band welcomed the visiting ship, in accordance with naval tradition. Officials from the Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka and senior officers of the Bangladesh Navy were also present to greet the delegation.
Earlier, PNS Saif was welcomed at sea by the Bangladesh Navy ship BNS Shadhinota upon entering Bangladesh’s maritime boundary.
During the visit, the commanding officer of PNS Saif and members of the delegation are scheduled to pay courtesy calls on the Commander of Chattogram Naval Area, Commander BN Fleet, and the Area Superintendent Dockyard. Officers, sailors, and trainees from the visiting ship will also tour historic and tourist sites, naval ships, and establishments in Chattogram. In a reciprocal gesture, Bangladesh Navy personnel will visit PNS Saif during the four-day program.
The goodwill visit aims to enhance naval cooperation, strengthen mutual understanding, and foster ties between the two countries. PNS Saif is scheduled to depart Chittagong Port on November 12, 2025.
