Tej Pratap Yadav Predicts 10–15 Seats for His Party in Bihar Polls
Patna, Nov 2025 : Jan Shakti Janata Dal (JSJD) chief and Mahua constituency candidate Tej Pratap Yadav on Monday expressed confidence that his newly formed party would secure between 10 and 15 seats in the ongoing Bihar Assembly elections. Speaking to reporters in Patna, Yadav said, “We will win. Our party will win 10–15 seats.”
When asked who would ultimately form the next government in the state, the former minister responded cautiously. “Let’s see what happens. We will know on November 14. The results will also come on the 14th. I am not omniscient, so I cannot tell you anything,” he remarked.
Yadav had earlier stated on November 9 that Bihar was heading toward a “change of government,” insisting that voters were ready to bring in a new leadership. “The election campaign has been very fast-paced. There will be a change,” he had said.
Security Tightened After Alleged Threat
Tej Pratap Yadav’s security has been tightened following what he described as a threat to his life. He claimed that several individuals were “trying to kill” him.
“My security has been increased because there is a threat to my life. There are many enemies who are working to get me killed,” Yadav told reporters. Authorities have not officially commented on the nature of the alleged threat.
Yadav, who was expelled from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) earlier this year, floated the Jan Shakti Janata Dal soon after and contested the Mahua seat under his new party’s banner. Polling for Mahua took place during the first phase on November 6, which saw a historic voter turnout across several constituencies.
Second Phase Set for November 11
After an enthusiastic response from voters in the first phase, Bihar is now gearing up for the second phase of polling on November 11. A total of 122 seats will go to polls in this round. These include 11 constituencies in East Champaran, 10 each in Madhubani and Gaya, nine in West Champaran, eight in Sitamarhi, and seven each in Bhagalpur, Rohtas, Purnia, and Katihar. Araria and Aurangabad will see voting in six seats each.
In the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, of the 122 seats now up for voting, the BJP had secured 42, while the RJD won 33. The Janata Dal (United) captured 20 seats, Congress secured 11, and the Left parties collectively won five.
Fate of 12 Ministers to Be Decided
This phase is also crucial for Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s cabinet, as the electoral fortunes of 12 of his ministers will be determined. JDU leaders such as Vijendra Yadav (Supaul), Lesi Singh (Dhamdaha), Jayant Kushwaha (Amarpur), Sumit Singh (Chakai), Mohammad Jama Khan (Chainpur), and Sheila Mandal (Phulparas) are among the key contenders.
Prominent BJP ministers in the fray include Prem Kumar (Gaya Town), Renu Devi (Bettiah), Vijay Kumar Mandal (Sikti), Nitish Mishra (Jhanjharpur), Neeraj Bablu (Chhatapur), and Krishnanandan Paswan (Harsiddhi).
As Bihar heads closer to results day on November 14, all eyes remain on how new players like Tej Pratap Yadav’s JSJD will fare and how the electoral landscape may shift in a tightly contested political battle.
