Delhi Police Trace Suspect Car’s Movements as CCTV Footage Reveals Key Clues in Red Fort Blast Probe

New Delhi, Nov 2025 : The Delhi Police have intensified the investigation into the car explosion near the Red Fort, uncovering significant details from CCTV footage that has helped reconstruct the suspect vehicle’s movements hours before the blast.

According to police sources, CCTV cameras captured a white Hyundai i20 entering the Red Fort parking area at 3:19 p.m., where it remained stationary for nearly three hours. The car was later seen exiting the parking at 6:48 p.m., coinciding with peak crowd movement in the area.

Investigators are now scrutinising the footage to identify who drove the vehicle into the parking lot, who might have accessed it during the three-hour interval, and who eventually drove it out. Special teams are working to trace the car’s entire route—from its point of origin to the exact path it took before and after reaching the Red Fort.

More than 100 CCTV clips from nearby roads, intersections, market lanes and toll checkpoints have been collected and are being examined frame-by-frame. Preliminary assessment suggests that the suspect was alone inside the car at the time it left the parking area. Police have also begun reviewing video from the route leading toward Daryaganj, where the car was last spotted heading.

Authorities will also question the parking attendant on duty at the time of the vehicle’s entry and exit. Officials believe the attendant may provide vital details regarding the driver’s appearance, behaviour, and whether the car bore any suspicious modifications.

The Delhi Police have registered a case under UAPA Sections 16 and 18, the Explosives Act, and relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), underscoring the serious nature of the incident.

In view of ongoing anti-sabotage checks and intensified security operations, Gate Nos. 1 and 4 of the Lal Qila Metro Station have been temporarily closed to the public. Heavy deployment of security personnel continues around the Red Fort, Daryaganj, Chandni Chowk and adjoining areas.

Police officials said that all possibilities—including terror links, local networks, and individual radicalisation—are being explored as investigators work to piece together the sequence of events leading to the explosion.

The Delhi Police have urged the public to remain alert and report any suspicious activity, while assuring that the inquiry is progressing with top priority.
